who has said they want him gone? I think he is leaving, that's different, its also not unfair to hold Mahrez accountable and to a higher standard when he has shown he is well above what people are expecting.

to say he hasn't been good enough this season isn't saying get rid it's just a review of his form

How many games does any player have to not perform to be dropped?

It seems that some people are suggesting that you should keep playing a player because he performed well at some time in the past? Isn't that the football definition of madness? Certainly seems to be the football definition of relegation.

As much as Pop wants to make out I'm anti-Mahrez I'm far from it and I know Pop watches every game and sees things so much better than the rest of us but has Mahrez really played that well since Shakey was promoted?

Gray is nowhere near the player that Mahrez was last season

Sadly, exactly the same thing can be said about Mahrez...

Why? because we have a different opinion?

I don't doubt, and never have, that Mahrez is the best footballer to have worn the sacred Leicester shirt. I do doubt that he is suited to us as a team and think that he is better served being able to play in the way he is capable.

It is absurd that anyone can suggest that he is doing the business in any way this season. I constantly hear people saying it's because he's marked out of games, this isn't a reason for saying he should be playing, it's a reason as to why he isn't and that doesn't help us.

Everyone has massively underachieved this season (domestically) but Mahrez is one of a few who have continued in this over the last few months.

I stand by the view that he is better served elsewhere and we are better served having a player who isn't continuously marked out of games.
No, not because people's opinions are different, because SOME people's opinions are ludicrous, unfounded and purely for attention. Different opinions are good, when they are sensible, logical amd coherent. Maybe, just maybe I wasn't referring to yours, hence the use of the word 'some'.

For the record I agree with some of what you say but I also feel that the strangling of his game that was evident early on this season has inhibited him from performing well and he hasn't yet come to adapt fully. I am confident that he will and, therefore, keeping a player of his quality should be a no brainer. Someone used a comparison to Hazard last season and which was very apt indeed. Even after JM's departure last season, Hazard looked a shadow of his former self for some time, this season, for the most part, he's blown opposition off the park. There's no reason at all to suggest Mahrez cannot rejuvenate himself this way.

Yea, that's exactly what I said.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I see things in a much clearer and more maliable way than you but as for everyone else on here, no. They, at least, back up their views, however different to mine, with sound thinking and reason. Some of yours on the other hand, belong on the wall of an asylum scrawled in faeces with a stick.

I don't think you are 'anti-Mahrez' whatever that means, I think you are ant-logic sometimes.

Who the **** started this thread? Shit-stirring bastard.

come on Lako you know no matter how poorly certain people play they aren't allowed to be criticized.

Even when he gets the ball he isn't being decisive this season, he was being marked out of games last season but he was still decisive when he received the ball, now he is dithering taking needless touches and slowing down moves.

He also seems to be taking the wrong option far more often than not

Who said he wasn't allowed to be criticised? Of course players should be criticised for lots of things and that includes Mahrez. Some of the criticism of him is just hyperbolic however.

It should also be considered WHY things happen. Wonderful players don't become average ones over night unless they are Fernando Torres. Mahrez has been far better defensively this season and far weaker in an attacking sense. Was this a tactical problem stemming from earlier instructions he was told to apply? Did he lose confidence for some reason? Has he not adapted quickly enough to being man-marked? We can criticise him, but some of us are also quick to see that the problems haunting him are, perhaps, solvable.

oh please mate, you criticize certain players and you get called all sorts because of who you mentioned no matter how much reason you put into your explanation of the point you make

Not by me and certainly not by any of the posters I've been reading. Are you sure you haven't been on FoxesTalk by mistake?

Sorry about that. Interesting how heated it gets here. There's been some quite outlandish statements going on about people may or may not deserving to support Leicester, or what have you due to differing opinions. I think this is a discussion worth having as it obviously has resulted in polar opinions. Can we all at least agree that he hasn't played anywhere near as well as last season? I'm not comparing him to anyone else in the team or why that is, but it seems to bear out by the reduced goals/assists. The question now is whether we think this is likely to continue next season?

I've seen it on here when Drinkwater was critercised it might not be as bad as on the insane asylum but it still happens

Mehrez is a top class player. We should try and keep our top class players. Pretty simple really.

Never heard of him. Should we sign him up?

I thought 2nd half he had a much better game and other than the annoying thing he does sometimes where he delays too long or takes on one too many he played some intelligent stuff.

But he wasn't playing as an outright wide player, although he sometimes ended up there.

I think in certain games the number 10 role as it's called is his best position.
Not sure if away at Arsenal is right for it but if we are behind I can see Shakey using him there next week.

As the team improves with acquisitions I believe it will open up space for him he is still a young player who has 3 players defending against him this season. The guy is a class act an unless we are offered silly money i.e. 40 million plus then he stays, I think that Gray is a long way off hitting the levels Mahrez has but both are players I would want to stay at our club as the are both outstanding telents.

I completely agree.

However in reality if a major European team did come in it's inevitable we'd have to let him go as otherwise we'd just have a Payet situation. The various rumblings seemingly by his agent over the last year certainly suggest he'll be agitating for a move for the player even if Ryiad isn't.

Secondly I wonder if we'll have any choice in the matter. Someone on RL or another channel I think mentioned the possibility of clauses around Champions League clubs putting in offers. Even if the club has denied a release clause (in terms of price) there may well be other contractual factors that mean it's out of our hands.

A wonderful player and one I hope we keep for a long while yet. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a cock.

Yes that's right, anyone who has a different opinion to you is a cock.

Righto

Pointless thread. He's on his way out in July & we need to milk every last penny from it to pay for some new defenders. Pretty sure that's the thinking at the club too. I hope it is as anything else would be naive. Last season's magic will live forever in the memory but it's run it's course. I hope he goes on to become a world superstar so we can all tell youngsters in the future we remember watching him play for LCFC.
