Perhaps Big Sam will run out of luck and get Palace relegated.
I'm sure many a Brighton fan would be in double heaven to see the Seagulls promoted and the Eagles relegated the same season.
Palace shouldn't get relegated with their squad. I think they made an error though in sacking Pardew. Despite their inconsistency and generally under-performing under them, if they were going to make a change, it should be in the summer. Pardew would have done enough to make sure they stayed up.
Allardyce is a strange case really. We often see a manager lose his ability to produce the goods once he's been through a difficult time or failed in something quite dramatically. Football management is an 'all or nothing' occupation and you cannot do it right without that focus and desire. The England situation will have fundamentally affected him and I don't think he'll be the same manager as he was before it.
So, all things considered, I think Palace have actually reduced their chances of survival with this change of management.
