Ranieri's Replacement?

This really is depressing and proof should it be needed that our owners really are clueless. They got lucky with Pearson but this is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Gone by Christmas with £3M in his pocket and leaving us with a string of overpaid shite players on lengthy contracts. Mark my words.

Like this one better.

I always wondered where the bitterness came from.

Guardian reporting the same.

Sensible decision. Up to Shakey now to prove to the powers that be that they don't need a bigger name in the summer.

I'm not sure that giving someone the job after 2 games is a sensible decision.

Don't get me wrong I have been pleased with the performances and results in those 2 games, and I am not opposed to him getting the job, but he is inexperienced as a manager, and we are still too close to the relegation zone for comfort. Personally I would give him a few more games but I would still be accepting applications, just in case.

In terms of knowledge of the players and what works and what would motivate them, then Shakey has 5+ years knowledge of this team, so no problem with him in post if the goal is just to stay up this season.

However, I think an end of season review would be valuable in case there is someone out there as a good Premier League manager, or an excellent manager of a Spanish, German, French or Italian league that plays our high pressing, high energy, counter-attacking game. Otherwise we would have to change most of the team to fit a different style, instead of just getting a couple of fitter, faster Centre Backs and maybe an attacking Midfielder.

Exactly this for me.

If we lose our next 4 games he'll be sacked. It would be less embarrassing for the very honourable owners to let him carry on as is and see how it goes.

If we lose the next 2 or 3 would the owners offer him their unwavering support?

TBH we need to change most of our defence and attack over the off-season and I don't think that Shakey will be able to do that. If he gets the job permanently I'd expect 2 personnel changes at most. That worries me. If an experienced Coach with a good resumé (who wants the job) is available at the end of the season, I'd snap them up. The O'neill who is interested is not a coach with that criteria.
