Ranieri Sacked

The players are ungrateful brats, and coming 17th is in our DNA. Which is great news, as I think 17th would be a good result most years.

Our players are remarkably easy to baffle

"Lads we're playing 433, one of the most well known football formations of all time today". Baffled.

"Lads we've got loads more games this season so I'm going to have to rotate the squad a bit like every single other club who play a lot of games does". Baffled.

"Lads I know Demarai Gray looks sharp but I'm going to introduce him gradually like all good managers do with young players". Baffled.

"Lads I don't think sticks of butter are a great post-game snack so I'm going to leave the good food but put the butter in the bin". Baffled.

"Lads, I know we won the league last year but our target for this season is 40 points." Baffled.

"Lads, I like you you to put a little more effort into your game." Baffled.

Maybe, just maybe, that despite his public face CR was actually bat shit crazy and that is what was baffling!

CR inherited the back room staff. In fact, it's reported that it was a condition of his employment that he retain them. Yet it seems he had little belief in sports psychology. He wanted "warriors" - and perhaps not men that needed 'understanding' and motivation in focused and personal terms. Now we hear him of him binning the butter (that sounds like a metaphor, if not a euphemism!), so maybe he didn't trust the nutritionists either. Maybe, just maybe, he was trying to "slowly slowly" turn an established back room into one of his own liking. Maybe that disrupted things.

He may not have actively sought confrontation but maybe he created the atmosphere for it. He gave the impression of someone quite relaxed and easy going (that was certainly the persona he projected) but maybe, behind the mask, he was Machiavellian and was looking to establish his own regime because that was what he knew and understood. Maybe he had no time for the kind of back room he inherited.

That was certainly a maybe post. Worthy of the Daily Star.

I thought some of the comments about a number of the back room staff going to Dubai and their roles and responsibilities being explained to the players spoke volumes.

Comments from where? I'd like to read them.
From here.

"Fuchs also admitted that it was good for the group to spend time with the Club’s backroom staff, many of whom work behind the scenes at Belvoir Drive, with a 10-day gap between the Hull City match and the visit of Sevilla next week.

“You get to know different faces from the staff,” he added. “They’re working behind closed doors so you connect with them and it’s even better for the team. We probably don’t even realise how much work goes into this. How many hours they spend on video analysis and things like that. It’s good to catch up with those guys and appreciate their work."

Wouldn't want a manager who isn't ambitious enough to regard performances under Ranieri this season as unacceptable nor realistic enough to acknowledge that in those situations it is the manager who has to go, anyway.

LAKO's your man then.
