Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

I suspect that many of our former targets will be looking elsewhere.

sad but true.

We're just a mid table / relegation battler with no European excursions.

Until we win the league again then we'll get average players for 15-30m once again. Won't complain though.

We're entering a Gallagher/Konch scenario now.
If you are comparing Gallagher and Konchesky to any of Mahrez, Schmeichel, Ndidi or Vardy the comparison cannot include ability.

Why would I do that? It's those without ability commensurate to wages that are difficult to move. Gallagher and Konchesky were both good players but their contracts were not in line with their ability/age/...

The four I pointed out are completely different in many aspects to Gallagher and Konchesky.

Konchesky and Gallagher had nowhere the talent of the four I have listed and certainly in Konchesky's case he was completely spent in terms of age and pace.

Gallagher I assume you are comparing to Mahrez and if so you may as well compare Jimmy Saville to Mother Teresa.

Gallagher was very rarely good and was awol in tons of matches. The occasional great goal didn't make up for the fact that he was a lazy bastard of the top drawer.

Both may have been on contracts way above their worth and by virtue had no resale value but in my opinion to the right buyer and in today's market:

Ndidi is worth ~£30 million
Schmeichel ~ £35 million
Vardy ~ £20-30 million
Mahrez ~£40-50 million.

In today's market and in their prime Gallagher and Konchesky wouldn't be worth a tenth of any of the above.

When I was growing up I'd always imagined if we ever won the league we'd be able to buy anyone we wanted. Look at what we ended up with. Really missed the opportunity didn't we.

Obviously I wasn't clear enough in my last post. I was talking about our squad - you said "players not leaving according to Ndidi.

I didn't see anywhere that you talked about those four players and those four players only.

If you want to talk about those 4 players I'll say again - if the offer is good the player's will leave.

If you think Mahrez would turn down a move to Real or Barça or Vardy would turn down an offer from Atleti with a commensurate contract then you are fooling yourself.

Personally I think players like Vardy and Simpson will stay with us until their contracts expire as they won't get offers good enough to get them to leave - unless it's China.

We did. The problem was the club expected our "star" players to continue to play at that top 10 in Europe level or even improve. They didn't.

Where did I talk about players turning down offers?

Almost as funny as Schmeichel at £35m.

It would double the British transfer record for a goalkeeper which was set by David De Gea (and would also break the world record transfer fee!)

Paul Merson spreading his wisdom:

"LEICESTER can be proud of their Champions League push – but I think players will leave the club now they’re out.

Riyad Mahrez and Kasper Schmeichel are wanted by other teams and I think they’ll move on.

Those players stuck around for the Champions League and now they’ve had a taste of top European action, they’ll want it again next season."

They will want it but will anyone pay the salary to entice them away? And Really how many top European teams would be upgrading with Kasper?
