As long as we bring Kante back and don't change tactics or formation ever again?

Yeah ok I'd go with that...
Again, where did I say we should do any of that? I suggested he should be given time to adapt and that we shouldn't be so reactionary as to dispense with a fantastic footballer for the sake of a quirky season. It's really not that complicated.

Sorry I thought you gave Kante leaving and changing tactics/formation as a couple of reasons to excuse his poor season...my mistake.

Ultimately some want him to stay and some want the club to cash in. I'm obviously of the opinion that we should cash in rather than hope he can produce something he hasn't shown at all this season. It'll make for an interesting summer though that's for sure.

They were reasons to consider when thinking about whether or not he may improve, not excuses.

I agree, the summer should be very interesting and I am sure he will go. It would just be incredibly sad knowing that the likelihood of replacing him with someone even a third as gifted is slim to none, especially if he shows that magic touch for a different Premier League side next year.

especially if he shows that magic touch for a different Premier League side next year.

And if he does go to show that magic touch for a Premier League side next year, we will all be left wondering and debating (again) whether his turn of form would have happened if he had stayed with us or whether it was because he changed teams.

I look forward to more mass debating.

Lots more film?! Lolz that's a good one.

How so? You don't think Premier League clubs are studying and finding every margin they can? You're being naive if you don't think these clubs are pouring over footage every single day. And we are talking about the most inexplicable rise in the history of sports. It'll be dissected forever.

Belittle me all you want, I work in this industry, and I know the lengths clubs go to to find an edge.

I'm done with this thread I reckon.

you should go back then and watch the film of Mahrez last season to this, watch HIS actions when he receives the ball, last season he was on the front foot, decisive and offensively aggressive.

this season he waits, is indecisive and lacking of offensive aggression, frankly, he has always been poor defensively but made up for it going forward, this season he hasn't contributed, no one expected him to match last season but he should have still done a damn site more than he has and he's been allowed to get away with it

He's been far better defensively this year than he was last.

Of course they are studying and finding every margin they can. And of course they're pouring over footage every single day. I completely agree.

However what you were saying was that Mahrez hasn't been as effective this season because there is a lot more "film" on Leicester and Mahrez after last year, as though to say there wasn't this film available during last season, and that it all came out between the end of last season and the start of this.

You then went onto say that "I'm sure managers up and down the country picked the bones out of us this summer", again implying that they hadn't been all of last season, they just waited until the season ended. This also contradicts what you said above about pouring over footage every single day.

It's saying that your assumption that he hasn't contributed is, indeed, bollocks.
he hasn't look at our defensive record, hell look at Atleti's goal last week, Simpson literally told Mahrez what to do and he did nothing leaving a player to pick out a perfect cross and that's just one example how many times is he walking back leaving Simpson exposed a game

I don't know what to think, I'm usually never on the fence and take a view. For this debate I follow the line of thought of the 'sell Mahrez he's not performed this season' group, then I read persuasive arguments that he's the best player we've got and if we give him time - like Hazard - & maybe adjust tactics & his role sometimes, he'll be magic again. I think he must have been marked more tightly by the second half of last season, yet he was still magic. So why not now? On the other hand, I also see that a more defensive approach since we lost Kante has stifled him... maybe next season with an even more effective Ndidi who let's not forget is only 20 will give a tweak to team tactics to allow Mahrez more freedom. I still have to give a worrying nod to the fact that we have all seen Mahrez play with indecision and lack of incisiveness and be easily tackled including under circumstances when we know last season he would have done better. I have to say on balance that he is a player we should give another season to. If the guesses (they can only be guesses) that he is demotivated this season and wishes he had gone to a bigger club are true then he will, and indeed should, go for all our sakes. I don't want him here if he doesn't want to stay. I do want him here if the team and the management - and his team-mates - can get him firing again on all cylinders. He isn't a 'one-season wonder' in my opinion, but I am certainly still wondering why he isn't playing better than he has been and why there seems to be merit in the argument that on this season's form, the rest of the team are carrying him somewhat. That just shouldn't be the case for a player for whom it is clear has incredible talent and undeniable magic in his boots.

the best formation for Mahrez we could play would be what we did second half vs Atleti, 343

Mahrez Vardy Gray as a front 3 anyone?

He's been far better defensively this year than he was last.

He's been poor defensively this season. So that's a non-argument.
