I am 40 years old. I suspect that, unless you're about 70 or so, the best thing you've experienced as a City fan is the O'Neill era. Until last year happened.

I'm being brutally honest here - I couldn't give a flying **** what happens from here onwards.

Yes, I'd love Leicester to crack on and establish themselves as an elite club, but that's not our way of doing things. Nobody can ever take away what happened last year and I'll be damned if anyone is ever going to taint my memory of it. I've been to Copenhagen and Porto and will be going to Sevilla (despite not having a ticket) and I'll enjoy every minute of it.

So, you know what, I don't give a shit. If people want to worry and procrastinate, let them. I, for one, will enjoy being a Leicester fan no matter what happens, safe in the knowledge that very few people (if any) will experience what we did last year.

PS - I'm fairly leathered but the basic sentiment of what I'm saying remains.

• Having spent £60m+ on players that have not improved the squad
• A rumoured player revolt
• Not having scored for the last 5 league matches
• Odd tactics and bizarre substitutions at HT of several matches
• Being one point off the relegation zone

But last season DID happen and it is by far the greatest achievement in the club's history. So you're absolutely right, in this context, how can you sack Claudio?

I completely agree with this. In a few years’ time this season will only be remembered for our run in the Champions League and the rest will be forgotten, whereas last season will live in the memory for ever. The first match I can remember seeing at Filbert St was beating Arsenal 7-2 in 1963. I was 9 at the time and naturally assumed that it was a normal result for us, although I recognised that Arsenal having no goalkeeper had probably affected the score. Since then I have accumulated many great memories of individual matches and some successful seasons but there are plenty of seasons where we have been rubbish and I now have virtually no recollection of them unless I look things up in Fossils and Foxes. It will be a huge disappointment if we get relegated this year but it has happened to us many times before and it can’t take away any last season’s achievements

I think we dodged a bullet there. Not that i dont rate Musa as such, i still think there's a good chance he'll prove a useful signing in the long term, but if we'd have dropped £25m or whatever the asking price was on him in January then Claudio would have had to shoe horn him into the team, and that probably would have cost us the title.

In regards to context i think if we'd finished in the more commonly expected 17th last season and been 16th this season then Claudio would still be here. Take last season out and this season still represents progress. Other than last season, this is the highest position we've been in at this time of the year for about 15 seasons.

Obviously it's disappointing that we've struggled to use last season's success to consolidate top half status but from a historical perspective this is still a good season.
