There are some very poor sides in this league the Everton game was just one of those games they are just as bad as West ham and the rest of the teams down there.

I am confident we will be well clear of relegation come the end of the season, tough trip to boro in the league they are well organised if we go at them from the start we will win.

Slimani should have had a brace today ACON will be a blessing imo

I don't think ink you can criticise Slimani at all today. He was superb.

I enjoyed that match. Full on aggression from both teams.

The ref was very poor but wasn't helped by the players, particularly some shocking diving from West Ham - Reid, Payet, Carroll, etc.

On the team selection, I've been wanting to see Albrighton on the right all season and finally he gets a chance. How much better is he there? Miles more effective than on the left. When Ranieri inexplicably switched him to the left for 15 mins in the second half, his performance dropped off markedly again.

Slimani is a terrific forward and we'll miss him over the next month. His work rate, intelligence, battling and skills were all top drawer.

Gray is a great prospect but is still some way off being the finished article. Much the same as Chilwell but the latter does seem to be a bit closer to being ready to me. On form, he's the best left back we have.

Special mention for Amartey who was exceptional throughout. Such a talented player and another that we'll miss badly after Monday. Drinkwater started very well but then faded quite badly. Schmeichel did well too.

Mahrez was fecking terrible. Apart from his shot in the first minute, his effort, positioning, interest, energy, etc were all way off the required level. I looked at him compared to Payet, as another player that has under-achieved this season, and Payet was far more effective and at least looked like he wanted to be on the pitch. The slouched, miserable wander off the pitch when he was belatedly substituted summed him up. I hope he goes away with Algeria and rediscovers his talent.

Albrighton is a revelation on the right. Absolutely superb

Was a truly baffling decison to switch him over at the start of the second half, where he really struggled (as did the whole team). Moved back over to the right, and once again was outstanding. Keep him there, FFS

Chilwell and Gray worked very well down the left. Amartey and Drinky super in the first half, struggled in the second

Slimani huffed and puffed, and faded badly after an hour. But find him in the box, and its happy days

Mahrez a massive disappointment for me, and should have been replaced a lot earlier

All in all a great game to watch, spoilt only by a clueless oaf of a ref who got so much wrong, and completely lost control at times. A complete duffer

Onwards and upwards, and hope springs eternal for 2017

For how awful Slimani and Albrighton were against Everton, they were bloody brilliant today. Chilwell was excellent again and should be kept in the side for Middlesbrough.

We will miss both Slimani and Mahrez, losing two players with evident quality isn't a "blessing" as someone said here, it's damaging. Let's not forget we are only 6 points above the relegation zone, losing two players of that ability will hurt. Amartey is really starting to thrive as well, it won't be good to lose him either. I don't know how anybody says any different, particularly with our squad not having the greatest depth.

Anyway, a much needed win and clean sheet, despite a frankly dreadful refereeing display.

Top quality cross from Albrighton for the goal. And a really good performance all round.

Mahrez wasn't great, but his presence in the middle really messed West Ham up, you could tell they were afraid of him and that created space for others as they tried to decide who should mark him.

I think I am most pleased with the clean sheet. We got lucky on a couple of occasions but I felt the defensive performance was much better today.

Perhaps the Albrighton detractors will lay off for a while.

Yet again he was many people's man of the match.

Nice.....

In that one instance Mr Mason shows that he has completely lost the plot. He reinforced this view by booking Huth for a good challenge and then ignoring Nobles horror tackle.

It's an interesting situation we're in; when Plan B looks more effective than Plan A.

Up front, we played to Slimani's strengths. He played the lone striker, with 2 wingers looking to cross and a 'man in the hole'. It looked more effective than pinging balls down the channels for Vardy. Maybe teams have wised up to that, who knows. It's not been working of late at any rate.

So, do we wait for Slimani to adapt two playing 2 up front? Or do we continue to feed the dragon? Would that mean Vardy and Slimani would never feature together? One or other being on the bench for when we switch tactics.

And what of Ulloa? Got to say, I know he has his critics, but personally I think it'd be a mistake to sell him on in the window. Unless he wants gone of course. He brings something. He's more in Slimani's style but is more prepared (at present) to defend. Besides, I like him! He's been loyal and is a grafter. Dunno... hung over.... wibble...

I Think Slimani and Ulloa are actually very different. Ulloa is better with his back to goal that Slimani IMO, but Slimani is more aggressive, particularly in the Box. As result Slimani will likely score more goals, and is better suited to a lone striker role. Ulloa needs somebody running beyond him to be effective.

Bit harsh to say he has lost the plot when he wasn't even the referee.

With Slimani away for a month we won't have the chance to let him get accustomed to playing up front we should have done that much earlier in the season. Vardy needs to find any sort of form to get back in the team. TBH I'd like to see an option of Ulloa and Slimani at the same time. They are dofferent players and I could see Ulloa playing the high balls and laying off to a charging Slimani. They'd both be a threat from crosses from our wingers and set pieces would see us with a number of threats as opposed to relying on Huth against 3 big men.

The only disappointment I had was the second half performance by Mahrez and then the way he left the field. He wasn't happy - but not with himself, with being subbed - he looked like he hoped a "big" team would step in for him. He is a world class player but I'd be happy at thisd point to see him go in exchange for a player and cash. He hasn't played his part since early in the season when he had the excuse of occupying 3 defenders.

Just to clarify what I said...

...meaning that Ulloa is more similar to Slimani than to Vardy. In that he's a 'balls-in-the-box target man'. I didn't suggest that Ulloa and Slimani are the same! Hope that's clear ;)
I didn't say you did. ;)

He wasn't great in the second half but I thought he was walking off slowly to run down the clock...
