Good tonight. Enjoyable, but don't lose your shit people. We played a Derby side with 8 changes and for 90 minutes it was hard work.

Gray and Chilwell should get a place for the next match. That is what I take from the match.

Otherwise let's not delude ourselves we are world beaters after defeating a largely second string Derby side in extra time.

I didn't expect Benelouane to look so accomplished. A real positive and arguably food for thought.

Id be tempted to start the team that finished the game. Reward the successful players and give the underperformers something to think about.

I haven't seen one single post that is 'deluded' or that has suggested we are now infallible. I have, however, seen several that are desperately trying to find the negatives in an otherwise pretty positive performance by referring constantly to how bad the opposition were.

Nobody is desperately trying to find negatives. What a ridiculous thing to say

They are simply pointing out the obvious

The obvious is that there were some very good performances tonight. Simple really. Consistently pointing out how terrible the opposition were is symptomatic of the dreadfully negative feeling surrounding the club at present. You can only play what is in front of you and for a team made up of many misfits, essentially, they did very well this evening. Concentrating on that is much more productive.

There shouldn't be that many. It's very clearly evident that King and Ndidi should play through the centre with Gray on one side. Question 1 would be who plays on the other? Chilwell should play at LB and Benalouane should play in CD with Amartey. Reinstate Simpson at RB. Question 2 should be 'who plays up top? It doesn't really matter who plays up top as none of them are prolific but perhaps Okazaki and one Slimani are the lesser of the multiple evils we have at our disposal right now.

I haven't tried to find any negatives. It was enjoyable. They did well. Up the foxes etc.

I am a realist though. That Derby side is not premier league quality. Arguably neither was the 11 we played tonight. That is why it was a good game. They were reasonably well matched.

I'm not going to take one match that is not representative of the standard of opposition we are going to face at the weekend and then suggest experimental changes to the team in a 'six pointer' match.

You want to experiment with two centre halfs who have never played together in a premier league match (one of which we have been using as a CM largely all year (Amartey), the other we have not used at all(Benny)).

Not for me and it isn't because I am 'looking for negatives'. I'm a positive person. I am just not ready to go bat shit crazy.

I said before the match:

"A night match at home against Derby.

That's always going to be a game I'll be wanting to be there, watching. Even if it is on the telly. Even if it's not the first team. Even if we're playing like shit and may well lose.

It'll be cold. It'll be dark. And once you get up the steps and into the stadium, it'll be bright and rowdy and everyone there hoping."

And it was everything I wanted. Even in a shit season there are moments of joy like tonight.

Wanting to see both Benny and Amartey play at CB had nothing to do with this game in isolation. It's to do with the fact that Morgan and Huth have been apalling. Tonight showed us that both Benny and Amartey (albeit at RB) look tidier and less frenetic than what we have seen thus far from our 2 regulars.

My suggestion isn't an 'experimental line up' as an over reaction to tonights game, it is a selection a lot of people have wanted to see for some time backed up by some pretty assured performances tonight. Yes, it was a Derby side bereft of massive quality but that had no bearing on how composed or extremely hard working some of our players were. We haven't seen the likes of that for too long now. Had we played Morgan, Huth and Drinkwater tonight, I'd like to suggest that the outcome for us wouldn't have been so positive. That, in itself, is enough to have me more intrigued by the plusses tonight offered, rather than concerned about who it was against.

Mendy had a good game as did Armarteyand Benaloune also Kapuska showed some decent touched/link up play, ask youreself this , how many of the "rested" players serve a starting place on Sunday?,imo Ksper Mahrez Slimani

Well we won't have to trouble ourselves with whether it would work or not because Nelson will get his eye back before we see that central defensive pairing this weekend.

Have we signed 4 new players or something? Never heard of half of those you mentioned...
