Get them running up the sand dunes Jock.

I watched the game again this morning. It was remarkable how little we attacked really. We could easily have scored several more goals had we been so inclined. I really don't think I've ever seen such a poor defence as Man Shitty.

I think the reason that we didn't go on to score more was partly a lack of confidence but mostly a lack of fitness. Yes I know I keep saying this but the drop off in energy levels towards the end of each half was incredible. The players were totally shagged out towards the end of the match. Had the game gone on for another fifteen minutes, we'd have lost to a joke team which would have been horrible.

All this made me wonder, how do you increase the fitness levels of a squad of players in the middle of December? Because that is the key to our season now.

Take the reserve team we put out against Porto (I finally watched that game too today). Several of them were patently not fit which, combined with a dreadfully negative attitude, was the reason we were so poor. What on earth do they do in training? Why are we incapable of getting and keeping players fit all of a sudden?

I would put this down to two things;

- the crap preseason as mentioned numerous times

- 'protecting' the players against there 'heavy' schedule. I.e. more games less intensive training.

Of course it could be there just shattered from all the games they've been playing? but I don't think so.

Agreed. We switched off with 10+ minutes to go. I think we were mentally and physically shot. Them scoring was inevitable. I was concerned when I saw 4 minutes of extra time to be played.

Fuchs was fuched as he always is in the last 10 minutes - we really need to sub him off in matches but of course Slim, Vards and Mahrez are all knackered too. Amartey covered so much ground but seem to last until the last minute or so.

I thought that we had pretty much the fittest players all last season even when we had the same starting eleven week in week out.

What's changed?

All our players were superb yesterday.

Zieler looked a confident keeper at last despite allowing too much room for their free kick. A couple of his kicks went out of play but it was clearly a tactical thing to win headers from them down our left side and it worked.

No one has mentioned Albrighton yet but I thought he was fantastic all game. My man of the match.

The atmosphere where I was in SK1 was simply brilliant and our fans kept going for the full 95 minutes so you never heard a squeak out of Man City fans.

Let's not start underestimating our performance yesterday by thinking Man City were as crap as some are making out. They are still a very good and expensive team but we outfought and out thought them.

Regarding the fitness, when you only have 22% possession and are chasing the ball it will have an effect. Last season there were games when the players were spent towards the 90 minute mark. There is also a psychological aspect to it too, when things are going well all the time it becomes easier to dig deep.

No, we only gave them new big fat contracts. They just can't be bothered about doing their job anymore.

They used to say helpful, intriguing, insightful, inspired things whenever they were asked a question last year. Now they just say "Lucozade" in answer to every question.

port.

Am I right in thinking we have competition for places across the board now? Outstanding performance, the Bournemouth game will be much harder now, it all depends if Bournemouth go out to nullify us

No

Tonight we will be playing a centre half or a defensive midfielder at right back, either of which is quite ridiculous
