Any Sunderland players that we should should get an early track on? Kone? Manquillo?
 
No, they've just been relegated. That usually means their players aren't very good.
 
There is nobody in the Sunderland team who I would take and that includes Defoe. Granted he is a superb goalscorer but I don't think he would suit our style of play.
There are however a number of players in the Middlesbrough's, Hull and Swansea squads who would be worth a look. Gibson and Ramirez seem to be on the radar already whilst George Friend seems to be a useful player. As for Swansea, if they go down, Sigurdsson and Llorente would be tempting. As for Hull, I like the look of Grosicki and Robertson. I am still yet to be convinced that Maguire is any more than a fat lump.

No it means their team wasn't very good. There was a team 2 seasons ago who were nearly relegated and then won the prem.
 
The Sunderland keeper (Pickford?) seems decent. Plenty of experience in a short space of time picking the ball out of the net.

If Kasper leaves for big numbers in the summer he could be a reasonable take.
 
Pickford and Defoe are their only players above league one standard.
 
Defoe is the only player they have of a good enough standard but he's old and would want good money. He's not a lot different to Vardy IMO. I think we could probably use another forward but if so we should be looking at younger ones. I think a more pressing concern is picking up a young CB or two and an experienced head for the center of midfield. An experienced playmaker like Adrien Silva would be ideal for that role. More realistically, we should be hoping Swansea get relegated so we can try and pinch Sigurdsson.
 
I like their centre half Djilobodji. Left-footed, strong, comfortable on the ball and calm as you like.

He's not been getting in their side, but that could be as much Moyes not knowing what he is doing as anything regarding the player.



 
Their keeper is outstanding - one of the best in the League

I think you're looking through blue tinted glasses if you expect silva or similar to even consider us. We're not playing in europe (not even Europa league) we're back to looking at misplaced lower level players or prem players being relegated or young potential players.
 
I think Lawrence needs a chance. If he plays in Pre season with the rest of the squad then at least we can then see if he fits in. He's a confidence type player and scored some cracking goals for Ipswich.
He may go on loan again if he's surplus to requirements depending on who we sign, but only say until January
 
Silva wouldn't come anywhere near us now.
