I think pricing makes sense but yes there needs to be a degree of assumption made there. As for being online, yes thats an assumption but is anyone really going to buy latest generation consoles and tech who doesn't have broadband?

My dad buys quite a few latest gen games and has broadband but his Xbox is nowhere near an Ethernet port. As he doesn't play online he has no reason to get it wireless.

There might be some, but they're probably in a very small minority. It does indicate an assumption that everyone will be on Xbox Live though (simply not true), and doesn't account for unreliable broadband connections.

Same here pretty much. I wasn't amazed by what they were planning initially but it was certainly going to be interesting to see how it played out.

Sharing games with 10 friends seemed a great idea and also not having to have the disc in the tray to play. Also, if it did turn out to be like Steam is on PC then it would have been a very interesting battle between 2 different concepts.

Bit disappointed tbh as I would have waited a year or so before making my decision, if any, and waited to see how things play out whereas now it is just going to be same as now.

You could share them as in you could play any game that any of your 10 'family' members has on their game list. The original owner could always play and one other person at one time.

You cant currently play a game you have and also lend it to a friend at the same time and with the originally proposed system, it would have been possible to play any game without by any at all and just play the games your friends have bought.

I never said the disc in tray was a big deal but it would have had a couple of advantages. not having to chop and change disc ever after installing would mean used products would likely to be as new and would mean there would need to be very little difference between new and used pricing. Also the noise factor of not having a disc spinning would have been a nice benefit and the lazy factor of being able to sit on my arse all the time when I want to play a computer game.

Its made buying games easier and considerably cheaper. The fact they were allowing sharing and potentially trading made it an even better proposition than Steam which is already an excellent service.

Just having one other person on your family list could mean you could go twos or halves on every game if you are a hardcore gamer or for casuals like myself, you could get away with buying nothing and still get to play any game that someone on the family list would have had.

To answer your above reasoning: When has the noise of the disc whizzing around ever been a problem? Why would people pay near to the new price for a used disc? Is walking to your console to change games really an issue?

Well both major console manufacturers have produced a number of revisions of their current line up which have progressively got quieter so it would suggest I am not the only one who likes to use a console without having what sounds like a hovercraft running in the same room.

People would pay similar as there is no difference, you would effectively be buying a serial number and a disc so you can install the software so there would be no advantage to buying new.

Having to change discs is hardly a deal breaker but it would be a nice benefit. Do you still carry all your CDs around with you or do you think an mp3 player is easier? Times change and things get more convenient for us which is what technology is all about.

CDs? I'll have you know I wheel around a cart with a specially adapted battery-powered gramophone to play LPs on. Not very popular on the bus.
