I know that this has been posted elsewhere, but I think it merits a thread of its own,

Firstly, I know it's only speculation but it would make sense that we've gone after him to replace Walsh as they operate in similar ways. He's also been working with Rob McKenzie so will know our approach. It's also interesting to note that McKenzie is moving on to re-join Pearson to head up recruitment operations at Derby.

Mitchell would be an excellent addition and ensure that we've the right sort of continuity with the huge loss of Walsh. His record for MK Dons, Southampton and Spurs was very much using the same approach that we do.

His record of signing players as well as determining the talents of young players at the club, is very impressive. A couple of examples; at Southampton he had a young defender Chambers getting rave reviews for them at right back. He didn't like the players stats so they brought in Clyne for £2.5m and allowed Chambers to leave for £16m. Clyne proved to be both cheaper and more effective. Another excellent addition was Dele Alli. A player much scouted but it was Mitchell that took the punt.

After the crushing disappointment of losing Walsh, if Mitchell joins us in September as is being speculated, the owners have done a terrific job.

Agreed BN. After taking a look at some of the players he's scouted, taken the gamble on and taken to Spurs, he seems a great replacement for Walshy to continue our forward development.

I've read on a few Spurs forums that they'd be sad to see him go. Seems Daniel Levy strikes again.

I agree.

You could also add the word "again", to your final sentence.

I have to add that although I am loathe to lose anyone from last season - either player or back room - I have absolute faith in our owners.

I bet there are 90 odd other clubs in the top four divisions who couldn't say that.

Apparently this is not happening now.

Just a rumour I've heard. I can't see why anyone would make up a rumour that someone was not going to get a job - which makes me think it might be true.

Here's another rumour; I'm not going to get it either.

Just a rumour that a someone tells you. Nobody of note but someone who talks to people who work at the club.

The suggestion that I've seen is that we're going to appoint someone from overseas to the role.

My concern is that we don't go down the route that several clubs have done by linking up with certain 'super agents' who then become the source of most signings for mutual financial benefit but at the expense of the best interests of the team.

This is a crucial appointment for the club and I hope we get it right.

It would be funny if he got the old tin-tack. It won't happen but I would laugh.

Underwhelmed by the prospect of Macia.

He's got a very mixed record of scatter gun signings. Sometimes he gets it right, sometimes very wrong.

He's been 'linked' with clubs like Barcelona and Man Utd but ended up being sacked from the likes of Real Betis and Olympiakos. Seems to have his favourite agents that he works with which is worrying.

Such a random selection who has shown no evidence of working at a club with our recruitment approach.
