We struggle to get a shot on target nowadays, never mind score 4+ goals against one of the top Spanish teams.

I remember the Jock Wallace relegation season in 80(?) where Youngy top scored for us with about 6 goals. We had a couple of consecutive 0-5 results and couldn't score for hell or high water. And now we've won a prem title and are in the last 16 in Europe.

Things are not as bleak as some people are making out.

I wasn't alive so they are

Wow. I knew the interest would drop off but that is something else.

Is it though? I'm going out to Seville, but I fully expect by the time we get to the home leg we'll very much be out of the competition. With that in mind, I can understand people not wanting to spend £65 on a ticket to a meaningless match.

Meaningless match being a last 16 Champions League game at our own ground

Something we have never ever seen and, quite possibly, will never see again

Top fans

What did anyone expect? We haven't scored a goal in 10 hours. People will look at our leaky defence, our lightweight midfield and our broken attack and make a judgement about how much they are willing to spend to simply see Leicester take part in a last 16 CL fixture - because in all likelihood, at that point we will just be taking part.

Plus - £65!

Mine was £40

It is abserbloodylutely something else. It's an event that no City fan has ever had the opportunity to attend in the past and it is something that it is highly likely that there will be no such opportunity in the future. City in the last 16 in Europe and season ticket holders don't take all the tickets. Incredible!

I've never quite agreed with the term 'plastic' as applied to football fans - in truth I've never quite known what it means - and I fully agree that people should feel free to spend their money how they wish - but it has never been more clear that we have a huge number of fans who can only be described as 'singwhenyou'rewinning'. Win, lose or draw in Seville, the atmosphere for this match should be electric.

Yes - it is something else.

We're just past 1 payday after Christmas, the tickets are ridiculously expensive and many players aren't even trying. There's plenty of valid reasons for not going to this. I'd be tempted to cut costs elsewhere to fund a few hundred quid day out if I was promised some effort from our players and a spirited defeat as that's what we're used to. Risking a miserably skint March so I can watch some highly paid tossers not care is not something I'd consider for a moment.

I think that the Champions League is a load of old shite yet I still got my ticket for the game without a second thought. I do wish I was a bit more discerning though.

The Champions League is simply not very attractive. I watched bits of the PSG v Barcelona match the other night and there were large empty sections in the PSG end. Even many of the Bayern fans looked bored last night. The supposed attendances in these games are often not accurate. It's essentially a corporate competition; not a fans one.

I do respect and slightly envy anyone that chooses to do something else that evening. I'm not remotely interested in seeing the opposition or listening to that wanky musical nonsense at the start or the dodgy refs or, most of all, the really dull football.

In all likelihood, it will be the last time I ever see us in the competition and I'm quite happy about that thank you.

For me, I have begun to feel a bit of resentment towards the Champions League.
The fact that the players have been able to produce performances in this competition but not the Premier League, and that Ranieri essentially gave them licence to do so has been insulting IMO.

What should have been an exciting adventure has turned into an excuse for an otherwise miserable season.

I expect we will actually see competitive and respectable performances in these games, but because of the above I am finding it hard to be enthusiastic about it.

I agree with you, sadly our manager doesn't.

Unfortunately I paid out my money before hearing his negative, loser comments because I wouldn't have bothered myself had I known the clubs attitude to it.

Charge people a ****ing fortune to watch a game that our own manager doesn't consider important.

The performance stemming from these motivational musings will indeed be 'something else'
