I have a moustache - but Hitler had no beard and I can't imagine him wearing shorts.

I'd like to take that another way. I agree that the decisions finally made in the France Spain game were correct. BUT, it's fair to say that that level of scrutiny of the offence of offside was not in the spirit of the offside law itself (which was, I believe, to prevent 'goal hanging'). So, yes it's accurate, but is it right? As a retired Ref and Assistant, I believe the simpler and cheaper option would be to get rid of the offside law altogether. Officials would have more time to get the other stuff right.

I think getting rid of the offside rule would make the game too defensive.

I don't expect that the off-side rule will be scrapped - it would be an interesting season to see how teams found best ways to take advantage.

I would like to see it done though.

I don't think it would be any more defensive than it is now. If a team comes to park the bus, they'll park it! But getting rid of the offside rule totally, would stop the controversy and arguing.

Oh that was fascinating. The away side still arguing and surrounding the ref after the Video Ref gave the goal. Keeper should have been sent off twice!! Think he forgot which rules he was playing to!

At the moment teams know that when they're attacking they can push their defenders up to the half way line, because of the offside law. With no offsides, teams would be forced to defend more deeply.

I agree it would be more defensive but the game would also be more stretched.
