That's what you call a sarkey comeback to try and reinforce a ridiculous statement. What was the point in stating the bleeding obvious?

Maybe you should have read properly in the first place as I'd said exactly that before you "replied" to me.

How can you ever win the Prem League for the first time in your history.....again?
I think his meaning was obvious. Your first post said words to the effect that it was impossible to achieve again what we did last year, which was win the league. Only after it was pointed out that such a feat is not technically impossible did you then add the caveat about winning the league for the first time which is stating the obvious and is a rather silly effort at backtracking on your previous comment. As my daughter would say, what a silly Billy.

Exactly this. It's like what kids do with those 'I know you are, you said you are but what am I' type comebacks.

This thread isnt making much sense to me, but then some of the posts arent visible so that probably explains it.

Football has been completed though.

Just like Sonic, it's not so much fun doing it all over again.

It's a bit sad but it is how I feel and I doubt I'm alone.
Yes, I agree. I grew up in Barwell and Earl Shilton in the 70's when all in my schools were Liverpool fans and there were but a few City fans.

Liverpool were tearing up all in front of them and I can clearly remember dreaming of MY team winning the league one day and obviously as a kid scoring the winning goal.

The difference being the expectation of the big 4 is that they will win the league at least a few times in a supporters lifetime whereas as a City fan I (and probably most fans) thought it a pipe dream that they would never witness.

Now that the feat has been achieved - for me the circle was completed and the league has lost some interest for me.

The FA Cup and Champions League is where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

I never dreamt that winning the league would lead to me being apathetic.

To me, it's not so much that they're using last year as an excuse, its more the weight of expectation that they're finding hard to deal with.

Last year, they achieved beyond their wildest dreams and throughout that season had nothing to lose at any point. If they had fallen short, they would still have had the best season this club has had in living memory. Understanding this, they played with no fear and it showed game after game.

As Champions, they have it all to lose. I now see a team riven by fear. Fear of losing what they had and it brings a tension to their play that didn't exist before. Its not that they're not trying, they seem to be trying too hard rather than letting it come naturally. In any sportsman or team, that's usually a recipe for failure.

None of this team (possible exception Huth) have had to deal with this before and I think that's a real problem.

If we can survive this season, I believe we will see a return to something like our best form once the level of expectation has been adjusted and the fear goes from their game.

I think more worrying than comments about not winning the prem again are the comments that seem to infer the team are happy with a last 16 exit in the CL.

We are now just happy to be allowed in the Premier and Champions League.

Grow some bollocks lads.

Last season Ranieri's mantra was always he did not mind if we lost as long as the team put in a good performance, which they did in virtually every game.

This season those 'performances' have been sadly absent in most games!
