Speculation Will Mahrez stay for next season?

I don't think that the club should be over obsessive about the issue of any one particular player. If Mahrez was determined to move on it would be in everyone's interests to let him. Whether he stays or goes the most important thing is to continue to grow Leicester City by investing in very good players (who are now more likely to want to join us) and developing infrastructure e.g. ground capacity.

My brother earlier this week rented Mahrez his home, and said he wanted a 6 month tenancy only. Eventually he was convinced to have a 12 month but did say several times that he didn't know what the future held and that circumstances might change over the summer.

So he is likely to leave and I wouldn't blame him if it was to Real or Barca...Bayern or maybe even Man City. Let's hope we can get at least £30m for him at the absolute minimum!

Should he stay and do as well next season as he has done this season then I should think he'd be worth £55m then!

I'm not as confident as you guys. I think he'll almost certainly be off in the summer especially after what his agent has been peddling in the press.

Wouldn't hold it against him though. He'll go down as one of the club's all-time greats (as will Vardy and Kante) should we hold on to our top 4 spot and I'll love him no matter where he moves onto. I hope it's a foreign side though, not sure I could bare to see him playing for another Premier League side!

Tbh I kinda assumed Gray was signed as a replacement for him.

Will be so sad to see him leave before he get's anywhere near his full potential.

Whatever happens I'm sure he will look back at his time with us as nothing short of career defining and integral to anything he goes on to achieve.

Frustrating at times but I'm utterly humbled to have seen a player with such talents play for my club.

Imagine Mahrez in a Man United shirt, doing those step-overs at Old Trafford every other week

It's just so frustrating that his agents are pushing this out there now. The timing couldn't be worse

Mahrez comes across as quite a shy unassuming lad, so is there a danger he could be manipulated. Fair enough if Mahrez wants to leave but wait until the Summer. The agent just wants a big pay day so doesn't care about the timing.

Why can't all this wait until the Summer? The club should put their foot down, make a stand against agents and publicly say they will entertain nothing until the Summer now.

If they don't they'll all be talking about new deals and that could ruin the spirit

“October knew, of course, that the action of turning a page, of ending a chapter or of shutting a book, did not end a tale. Having admitted that, he would also avow that happy endings were never difficult to find: "It is simply a matter," he explained to April, "of finding a sunny place in a garden, where the light is golden and the grass is soft; somewhere to rest, to stop reading, and to be content.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Sandman

As CR says Mahrez should be wishing he plays better than ever if he wants to go to a bigger club as we have the benefit of a long contract and won't wanna sell him on the cheap no matter when he wants to go to.

I hope we don't have a situation where Barca want him for only £20m-25m and he wants to only go there. We should get a bidding war - Mahrez could quite easily be one of the best players in the world.

Maybe he stays if we get top 3 and then goes next summer. If he truly believes in his ability then he could wait, show what he's worth in the CL.

The club can't stop his agents talking to other agents. Or him talking to his agents. Or his agents talking to the press. And, since he can't move before the summer anyway, just how can they put their foot down?

The way Ranieri has approached it is sensible.

A friend said to me tonight "where else would he be this loved, this revered?" Point.

Could have been said by any Man U fan about Ronaldo.

Supporters across Europe would offer up their newborns for Mahrez.

The Scotsman says that:
Molde star Mohamed Elyounoussi is being touted as a possible replacement for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez - only months after claiming that Celtic were interested in securing his signature.

The 21 year-old Norwegian has scored 36 goals in 78 games for Molde since moving from Sarpsborg in 2014. Elyounoussi scored twice against the Hoops in the Europa League earlier this season.
