By Car

The ground is 127 miles from Leicester, but very little of this is by motorway. The AA route planner says it should take 2h43m.

Directions from footballgroundguide.com:
Leave the A14 and then join the M11. Come off the M11 at J8 (Stansted Airport/A120) and follow the A120 towards Braintree & Colchester. The A120 then joins the A12 after passing the stadium on your right,. Leave the A12 at Junction 29, which is the intersection with the A1232 & A120. At the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the exit signposted A12 London & Colchester Business Park. Then take the first left into Severalls Industrial Estate and then left again into the Business Park. At the next roundabout turn right into the Crescent and at the next one, turn right into Severalls Lane. At the next roundabout turn left into Axial Way and then straight onto into United Way for the stadium.

Parking

There is a 600 space car park at the stadium, but it costs £10. The on street parking close to the ground is for residents only so if you don't want to pay a tenner you may have to park quite a distance away.

By Train

Colchester station is around two miles from the ground. There is a free shuttle bus which runs from Bruff Close, which is near Colchester North station. Match tickets include a voucher for the bus.

It's not possible to get back to Leicester by train on the night of the match. If you plan to stay the night a super off-peak return costs £60.70. There are advance purchase singles available which would enable you to do the journey for £35.

Does anybody know when the latest is that I can buy a ticket?

They're taking the 16:15 train from Liverpool Street - the last one before the more expensive fare kicks in.

Once you hit the A14 at Kettering, or the A1 at Peterborough, it's duel carriageway all the way.

My personal preference is the A14 to Ipswich and then the A12 south, but you can do the M11 south and then the A120 from Stansted. Once hit Braintree though it will be single carriageway.

hmm

it's cheaper for me to take a full day and spend extra on the fare

what pub is everyone going?

Edit
....................In Colchester within 1.5miles of the ground.

If you look at Jeff's original post there doesn't appear to be any street car parking near the ground. You might be best parking near the Raiway Station and using the free bus service.
