Thinking of getting a laptop but dont really understand the computer terms, wondering if some of you could give advice please:

AMD 2GHZ
15.4 inch
1024 MB
60 GB
DVD/RW
XP HOME SP2
Wireless card
2 year warranty
and I negotiated a printer and laptop case

all for £500 inc VAT & Delivery, they did say £733, then £551, final offer £500, deal or no deal? Need to pay tommorow at 6pm if i am to buy it.

Try to get them to give you a free upgrade to Windows Vista when it is launched next year. PCWorld are certainly offering that with all systems now.

Anyone who registers XP with Microsoft between now and the end of the year (been in place since Ocober I think) will be eligible for a 'free' vista upgrade regrdless of whether the manufacturer offers it or not.

Perhaps someone can confirm this, but Dell laptop Hard Disks used to be sealed in the unit, and meant it was very expensive to upgrade later on. if this is the case it might be worth getting an upgrade at time of purchase.

this depends what you will use it for though.

remember that formatting will give you about 51Gb of usuable space. windows uses a large chunk also. Vista will want at least 10 i think.
