The Premier League has "contingency" plans for staging Leicester's home fixture with Crystal Palace given the enforced local lockdown in the city.

Leicester are scheduled to host Palace on Saturday but a spike in coronavirus cases has seen stricter lockdown measures imposed in the city.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said the game could be moved or postponed to a later date if needed.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the game will go ahead.

But he did not state where and Masters said the Premier League must be "cautious and careful" in light of the UK's first local lockdown.

Masters said: "If what is happening in Leicester, we are waiting to hear, does affect the club's ability to host home games, either this Saturday against Crystal Palace or subsequent matches, then we have contingency to put those matches elsewhere or postpone them until a date when it is safe to do so.

"Of course contingency plans are discussed and part of our overall planning.

"I am yet to understand what the impact of the partial lockdown in Leicester is going to have on the club but clearly it demonstrates the fragile project we have on here. We cannot take it for granted

It’s explicitly stated multiple times in the article that it’ll be at the King Power Stadium. Other than that though, yes, complete mystery.
It’s the Mockery, they’ll catch up

Club statement:

Tuesday 30 June, 2020

The Club has today consulted with local authorities, its Safety Advisory Group and the Premier League, following Monday night’s Government announcement relative to coronavirus measures in Leicester.

All parties remain entirely satisfied that, through the continued implementation of our COVID operations plan, the Club’s football operations can continue to safely function under existing protocols and, in doing so, there will be no greater risk posed to Club personnel, visiting teams or our surrounding communities. Consequently, first team training will continue at Belvoir Drive and our forthcoming Premier League fixtures remain unaffected.

The Club remains agile to the evolving nature of the situation and suitable continuity arrangements are in place in the event we are required to deviate from our existing protocols.

The Foxes Fanstore at King Power Stadium has closed, in line with local requirements for non-essential retail. Personnel working on-site remains limited to staff performing essential business functions that cannot be completed from home.

Through the implementation of a robust and comprehensive COVID operations plan, the Club is fully committed to playing its part in controlling the spread of the virus in our communities, while safely ensuring we can continue to operate and represent those communities on the pitch. We urge our supporters in the city to stay home where possible and to continue to follow the latest localised advice, available at www.leicester.gov.uk.

...guess who's in Loughborough, heading south!

Almost made it through the city today. We started out at Sileby and managed to get to Glen Parva/Blaby (just by where the County Arms used to be).

Mooring restrictions suspended as far as Newton Harcourt so we'll probably stay a few nights at Kilby Bridge before moving on.

Progress was very slow from Freeman's Lock onwards. The lack of boats has allowed the weeds to really take a hold.

Note to David Gwilliam:. The tea rooms at Kings Lock appears to have gone. Is this a permanent closure of just because of lockdown?

I’ll look out for you passing by our garden in the morning

Might be early afternoon. With no shops at Kilby Bridge and no desire to catch a bus into Wigston, we've decided to do a quick Aldishop in Blaby before setting off.

Do I look to my right or to my left. Look out for two green boats. We're the one without the contents of an average-sized greenhouse on the bow. His tomatoes are coming on well though.

we’re on the left Hand side about half way along between your next two sets of locks, I’ll keep a look out

I think we got away with it I’ve just seen the green barge go by out the window
Now safely locked down at Kilby Bridge.

Is the Navigation open on Saturday?
It's in the proscribed area so it shouldn't be. No idea about whether they've been doing takeaway or not though.

The lockdown area on the canal goes as far as the bridge at Newton Harcourt.
