something i heard on Talksport today.

apparently when Wilson Palacios was transfered from Wigan he was due to be suspended for 2 games after reaching 10 bookings for the season. The 2 games he missed for Spurs were 1 game in the cup and 1league match.

the bone of contention was that Palacios was cup-tied, having played for Wigan, and could not play in the cup match anyway, therefore he should have missed 2 league games.

Surely a 2 game ban should be from games the player can appear in.

I have every faith that someone on hear will know the answer

I don't think so, a player can serve a suspension during injury so this is no different.

If a player is injured, he could still play in the game. If a player is cup-tied he cannot play. Therefore I believe it is different.

A player is suspended until his club has played the specified number of games. The fact that he could not have played in such a match is irrelevant.
