I know he wasn't on for very long, but I thought Cleverley looked fairly promising.

Having watched on the box:

Martin 5 - had nothing to do

Gilbert 6
Hobbs 6.5
Morrison 6
Berner 5.5

Oakley 6
King 6.5
Davies 7
Dyer 6

Fryatt 6.5
Howard 7

Subs:
Mattock 6.5 (didn't do a lot, but did very well for the goal)
Cleverley - not enough time, but looked promising (and slightly Hume-like in a short, stocky, shaved head, number 7 wearing sort of way ;))

Watched on TV:

Martin 6

Gilbert 6
Morrison 7
Hobbs 6
Berner 5

Oakley 6
King 6
Davies 8
Dyer 5

Fryatt 6
Howard 7

Mattock 7

Based on watching on tv:
Martin 6.5 confident
Gilbert 7 tried to get forward
Hobbs 6.5 solid
Morrison 6.5 solid
Berner 6 did ok
Oakley 5.5 a few nice touches but rarely involved (should have scored)
King 6.5 solid a few good interceptions
Davies 8 looked the class player on view
Dyer 5 Dissappointing, had plenty of chances to shine but didnt
Howard 7 aerial threat should have scored
Fryatt 7 not fully fit but showed glimpses of quality
Mattock 7 high score because of goal
Cleverely 6.5 would liked to have seen him on earlier as he looked ok

Solid good enough performance attractive in short spells , not the "hoof" display i was fearing without Tunch

having watched 60 minutes on TV....

Martin 7 - thought his handling on crosses was excellent

Gilbert 6.5 - poor distribution but a great athlete, making some good tackles
Hobbs 7 - big and strong, winning lots of ball. distribution a little wayward.
Morrison 7 - won most that was thrown at him. thought he looked reassured on the ball - promising player.
Berner 7 - Thought he played well. Having somebody with good height at full back is an advantage. I like him and think he will become mr reliable at full back.

Dyer 6 - one good run and cross but largely anonymous. struggled to find any room.
King 6 - kept the ball moving fairly well.
davies 8 - sign him. he is class. MOM
oakley 7 - quality on the ball. clever passes and movement.

howard 7 - battled ever so hard and was a nuisance all night. deserved a goal.
fryatt 6 - close to a goal. well in the space that he had. has great feet but needs more support from his colleagues.

Mark Davies was the best player on the pitch. However, I am going to be contrary and make Michael Morrison the man of the Match. I expected Davies to do well. I expected Morrison to struggle as the replacement for Tunchev. In fact Morrison and Hobbs did a superb job and Martin did not have a save to make. I thought Martin's general handling was excellent.
