There are two options. Leicester - Nuneaton, Nuneaton to London, or Leicester to Peterborough, Peterborough to London.

Sunday 1 and Monday 2 January
A half-hourly train service will run between London St Pancras International and Bedford. An hourly train service will run between East Midlands Parkway and Derby/Sheffield, and also between East Midlands Parkway and Nottingham.
Buses will replace trains between:

The train ticket sites are showing normal services for the day. They are not showing any cheap advance tickets though, which sometimes happens if there's a chance of engineering work. As the info has been on the National Rail site for a week there's no excuse for the ticket sites to be wrong, so maybe the engineering work is not definite at the moment. The East Midlands Trains site may have more reliable info.

The EMT site has the same info as the National Rail site. So the ticketing websites (including the EMT site) are selling tickets for trains that don't exist.

East Midlands Train site says no engineering works on the route for that day. However, it's confirmed works only go as far as Christmas. EDIT: MAYBE NOT!

Both routes have replacement buses on them.
National Express looks the most simple option.

They didn't when I checked the other day. It looks like the ticket websites have caught up with the engineering work, Leicester - London is now showing a crap service too.
