One of our best players of all time but at 40m I can't see a yoyo team like us saying no.
 
A fantastic player and I would/will be sorry to see him go but, if a team like Barca' comes calling, I think it's only fair that we should let him decide. In the long term, it works to our advantage because, if players know that they can reach a level and step up, they are more likely to sign for us than if we cling on grimly.

Sadly players are only worth what another team will pay. Teams would have to factor in the £20m + salary a 4 year contract would cost too.
 
It's bad enough seeing Kante playing for another PL side. Seeing Mahrez for another PL team would be horrible. I am fully expecting him to leave in the summer so good luck to him if he gets a move such as Barca

He's a ten and wouldn't run around as much as Okazaki - we'd only bring him on for the last 20 minutes.
 
It's like keeping a pretty little dicky bird in a cage in the lounge.

It's ace, and he has lovely plumage, and I've taught him to chirrup "who's the wanker in the black", and everything. And stuff.

But we both know it's shit. But we both know he needs somewhere with space. Somewhere he can flutter about and be himself. Somewhere with natural predators and suitable winter climates.

There was a time when our players were targeted by Barnsley and Rotherham. The fact that rumours link our players to Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the like, should be a sign of how times have changed. Yes it's sad that players move on, but at least they've been our players, even if only for a limited time.

Neither have they battled relegation - but they are in the European discussion each season.
