Same goal scorer, same Musa with the assist.

We have 24 players who would need to be registered to play in a league game. Why not name all 24 when there are 25 places?
By all means. Why not put a "better" player in that list then? At least someone who gets to play for the U23s? Sorry for my ignorance here.

Because we don't have one. All the players that we would ever need to register are registered. As it is, every player at the club is eligible to compete in a Premier League game. What possible additional benefit could be obtained from not having registered this one?

FT. A nice 2-0 win. George Thomas with both goals. One for the near future?

Under 21s (Players who were under 21 at the start of the year) don't have to be part of our named 25 man squad for the Premier League, they can play anyway. That's why Chilwell, Gray and Iheanacho aren't in our 25 man squad.

Martis is older though, so he'd have to be in the named squad to play in the Premier League. We have no players over 21 who aren't in the squad of 25. So if we left him out of the squad there's no one else who could take his place - unless we sign a free agent, and we still have a space in the squad if that happens.

The way he set up the first goal suggests to me that he's lacking in confidence though. A confident striker would have scored from that position.

Harsh, personally I think he made the right choice. He had the keeper and three defenders around him. Plus Musa made the chance in the first place with his pace and quick thinking. Looks like a good performance from the u23s, Thomas is particularly catching the eye with an eye for goal and the finishing ability to match it. Also has a bit of Vardy's tenacity. Linked up well with Musa in that game.

No need to get carried away with Thomas given the youth opposition particularly given that Musa also played well and we know how he copes in the Prem.

I think there was a better chance of him scoring, from where he was, than making a good pass and Thomas taking the chance.
Musa played well, but just doesn't look like he has the confidence in front of goal. If Vardy had been in that position there's no way he'd have passed it.

He had the keeper and three defenders around him.

No he didn't. He was clean through with just the keeper to beat. He was 20 yards further forward than any of our other players.
The defenders caught up with him because he didn't have the confidence to shoot or take on the goalkeeper. He waited for someone else to catch up with him so he could pass it instead.

Spot on.

You're thinking of Mahrez.

Point is, and I accept the confidence point, Musa made a choice and a goal resulted. I'm pretty happy with that whichever way you cut it up.

His pass for Thomas's second goal could have been a little better. It was a good finish from Thomas.

Coaches like Guardiola tell their players to go for the certain goal and if that means squaring it when you are in a good position to someone in a better position that's what he wants you to do, think Vardy when he hadn't scored for England, through on goal but squared to to Sterling who had a tap in

The U23s play at home to Hertha Berlin in the PL International Cup tonight. An early 1-0 lead through Sam Hughes
