Good Result. Puel will have seen the good and the bad and will know what to work on going forward. Some awful passing in the second half.

I’m going to make the same point as Ludlow in the match thread - Morgan was immense, and won’t get much credit given the attacking flair of the first half.

Iborra has also added a huge amount to our midfield and Wilfred was much better today.

I thought Chilwell was good first half, but did do less well in the second half. I like the fact he’s been given the chance though.

Gray, Vardy and Mahrez were ok too...

Very good performance from everyone. Morgan and Gray were excellent and Iborra was MOTM for me.

Gray was excellent throughout as was Morgan. Vardy was causing problems for them throughout. The intensity in the first half was very good but we couldn't quite bring that same endeavour to the second period although creditshould go to Everton for this as they were markedly better.

Chilwell cannot defend, it's his biggest weakness. I know he's young and hasn't had a lot of game time but you can't give him a lot of game time if he's going to be as ineffective as he was in that second half.

We blew them away in the first 20. The rest was a bit of a non event.

A few points, Maguire needs to stop the stupid runs. Iborra really impresses me in patches but became sloppy with his passes as the game wore on. Ndidi was outstanding. Chilwell is a tremendous athlete but he needs to work on the finer parts of the game. Oh, and the first goal was simply sensational.

Morgan, Gray, Iborra and Vards imperious.

The engine on Iborra was particularly impressive. Both on the first goal and towards the end. He's getting better and better.

Full credit to Gray, too. Brilliant.

The only downside today, I thought Fuchs continued to struggle. I'd be surprised if chilwell isn't starting sooner than later.

Getting the first goal for us is so important. It is so important for our (current) game plan.

Imagine how good he’d be if he could cope with the pace of the Premier League and play in a midfield 2.

Positive signs, I'm well pleased.

2nd half was ropey, we were panicking and giving the ball away too often but we were sold in central defence when we needed to be. Everton lack a decent striker but that's there problem and we handled what they did have.

Great start for us, good to see the spirit shown (we looked motivated and rejuvenated) and hopefully it's the beginning of something approaching consistency.

I really enjoyed that.

He may not have the engine on him that some want, but I like Iborra and that’s since we played against him for Sevilla.

We’re not about to win the league, but that was much better than before and long may it continue.

Much much better today.

We tore them apart first half. Professional defensive job in the second half.

Gray, Vardy, Mahrez, Morgan and Iborra all did very well. Ndidi much improved. Chilwell and Fuchs not at their best. Maguire and Simpson quiet but effective.

Very pleased. Good start from Puel.

Well, well, well. We have ourselves a manager with a brain.

We won the game in the first half hour because we set up and played in a way that the opposition weren't prepared for. I've been crying out for something akin to that for about a year and finally we have someone with the intelligence and the guts to do it.

Gray was the 'unexpected' presence in the side, combined with the unusual positioning of Mahrez. These two effectively won us the game. It was a lovely first goal with a tremendous run from Gray and assist from Mahrez.

After that breathlessly impressive start, the game died from our point of view. We were pretty poor at times, with Fuchs giving away an obvious penalty which we really got away with and they were camped in our half for the vast majority of the second half.

I thought that Schmeichel and Maguire were poor. For me, both are close to deserving to be dropped as they are clocking up consecutive bad games. Morgan was superb and easily our most important player. He blocked everything and threw his body on the line time after time. A truly excellent performance from someone leading by example. Simpson aside, the rest of the defence owe him big time for that clean sheet.

Everton were exactly what I expected them to be. Completely disjointed and lacking any sort of game plan. Why don't referees book Rooney more often? He's such a dirty shit and his constant moaning to the officials must do their heads in as much as ours.

On Puel, it was a promising start. He did something smart and the players actually appeared to implement what he asked of them. The test for me though will be next Saturday in what is a huge game for our season. Before the international break and then the Man City game, we go to Stoke and if we can outplay them and get our fourth consecutive win, we may finally be off and running.

Not sure I agree with the praise for Vardy.

I think he was the most guilty of complacency of all the old guard players.

He seriously needs to move more, he wasn't making any decent movement for the most part.

He also kept getting caught offside and it wasn't because he was constantly on the shoulder.

Rant over, we have an astute manager who actually has ideas on how to link up our most dangerous players, it's an absolute revaluation after suffering the simple, ineffective shit served up by the last bloke.

I'm genuinely positive about the cut of this blokes jib, I just hope all of our players get onboard.

I feel he's going to mix it and play in a style where we have numerous options in each role, also with options for players to switch on the pitch.

Allez Les bleus!!

I thought Maguire was perfectly adept in both his positioning and interceptions. He made a couple of good tackles and did pretty well with the ball at his feet. It was a good performance - the type that he has been praised for from most quarters since the beginning of the season.

I must admit he does look like a whiner, both with his regular talking to the ref and his facial expressions. I was surprised when the match commentator said he was 32, I thought he was older that that. That is to say the he acts like a grumpy old scrote who thinks the world owes him something; the pub bore.

I think too much is made of his passing too. Sure, he can put a decent ball through occasionally but he equally thumps it into space on the other side of the pitch (or "switches play" as some like to say) and the ball rolls into touch or over the byline. I think there's too much faux reverence paid to him.

The first 45 mi s was as good as we've played all year, and that goal was the best we've scored since the title season. Should have been four up by half time.

Second half they changed their set up and our response was to drop deep by five or six yards. It was wrong and it was poor

I thought Simpson had his best game for ages - Iborra and Ndidi were superb first half, same goes for Gray and Mahrez

Fuchs struggled all game - beaten for pace repeatedly and constantly strugglng for position. Maguire making three or four significant mistakes every game now, which is a worry, and a better side would have punished us good and proper. Thankfully Everton were piss poor.

Most worrying was the fact the we looked completely knackered with 15 mns to go which seemed quite strange

Overall it was just a relief to see a whole new approach to the game, and it seemed to lift both players and crowd in equal measure

Lots to improve upon, but lots to be happy with
