Daniele de Rossi was involved with an angry disagreement on the bench as Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup in their must-win clash with Sweden.

With Italy needing a goal to salvage their campaign, the Roma midfielder was asked to warm up by the coaching staff.

He reacted angrily to the request, insisting that in-form Napoli playmaker Lorenzo Insigne should be considered instead of him as Italy needed a goal.

People moaning about England really ought to look at Holland and Italy, and take a little stock

Why, because we won most of the games in a comparatively weak group?

People are moaning because although England are in, we rarely look like beating a team of any quality whatsoever.

We've just held a genuine contender to a draw, whilst playing a team of newborns. Some people seem incapable of being happy!

I've been pleased with the two draws, performance wise it was refreshing.

The problem is that as soon as possible he'll revert to the same old bollocks.

Stick with the new system and **** some of the old guard off.

Kane, Alli, Henderson, Sterling, Lallana, Cahill

Undroppable in Southgate's eyes and will all start in the first WC game

The BBC talking up Gomez, that's Maguire's World Cup gone then. Centre backs will be Jones, Smalling, Stones, Cahill and...Gomez, 'cos he plays for Liverpool.

Most stupid red card I've seen for a while. If anyone should have been booked here, it's the ref himself for kicking out against the player.

Fiorentina supporters take farewell with Davide Astori :(
