Understand #lfc NOT interested in signing #lcfc forward Riyad Mahrez. No contact between clubs, £50m fee suggested elsewhere is well below what Leic want, and Klopp has other targets. Mahrez and Coutinho both represented by Kia Joorabchien.
 
So, any word on whether Mahrez passed his fitness test?

I reckon he's eating a Gregg's pastie at some services on the M6. If he's got any sense that is.

In case (some) people thought I was re-igniting a bit of (what appears to be) agent stirring/gossip, that wasn't my intention. As far as I'm aware, and as has been reported, there is no interest from Liverpool. Not currently anyway. I was just attempting to be facetious.

It’s just round the corner.
 
Mahrez’s contract expires in June 2020. Working on the basis that we don’t sell him this month, that would mean he has 2 years left on his contract, in the Summer. After that, our bargaining stance for transfer fees gets severely weakened and I think it’s pretty clear that he wants to move on.

By that reckoning, it gives us until the end of the season to make to most of him and appreciate what a talent we have currently playing for us. I intend to do that.
 
I think at the minute, I'd rather lose him for nothing in 2 years than accept a bad deal right now. Players like Mahrez can keep us in the Premier League and that alone is worth £90m+..

I'd hope to get an absolute minimum £50m for him at the minute but we should be looking for an offer around £70m IMO given what money the likes of Coutinho and Van Dijk have gone for recently..
 
Why do we continue to undervalue Mahrez?

It's an interesting question.

Reports in the summer suggested we had a sort of mutually agreed value, between the owners and the player, at which point we would consider selling him. This may, or may not, be true. I wonder if there is a shift in that value (if it exists), or if Mahrez expects it to still be the same. Certainly, the way the market has gone, I think he should be worth a lot more.

On the basis of those valuations, Mahrez should not be sold for less than £100million+ if he goes to a similar club.

Maybe he’ll sign a new contract. He signed the last one with the intentions of moving on.
