You can't spend what will take them to circa £350m in a season and pretend that you are winning things on merit. Or that you in any way have a sustainable business. Wankers.
 
I suspect the Sanchez thing was more about squad harmony than FFP. If they paid him the wages he was asking for, they would have a queue of others asking for parity. Paying a large transfer fee doesnt generate the same pressures on other existing costs.
 
In non-Mahrez news, but onto our other Algerian, Newcastle and West Ham are apparently both looking to get Slimani in today.

Although both seem to be suggesting loan moves, which we're apparently not keen on. If it's just a loan I'd rather we kept him.
Did see some talk of a £20m offer from Newcastle though.

Clearly he’s no Mahrez, but he’s not as bad as some on here make out. He tore us a new one at our place before Christmas.
 
Am I wrong to be a little concerned that having got rid of Ulloa, Mahrez potentially on his way and Slimani possibly going to Newcastle, we are a little bit light up front?

That would leave us with
Albrighton, Gray, Diabate
Vardy, Shinji, Iheanacho

For the wing and striker positions. Considering we usually start 4, then yes I agree that would leave us a little light. I think we'd need a replacement winger.

With King probably on his way out, it only takes a couple of injuries or suspensions and we start to look a bit thin on the ground. I wouldn't like to comment on Diabate on the back of the cup game but he seems to be more "one for the future". Could we really get away with (say) Okazaki and Gray up front? Somehow I don't think so.
 
We have got some good young players coming through. And we would still have 2 senior players for each position before it came to that.
 
Sky Sources say Newcastle have agreed a loan deal to take Slimani until the end of the season.
 
So if Schmeichel gets a knock we're stuck with Ben Hamer

Only a complete nutcase would allow that to happen
