We currently have 31 players to fit into a 25 player Premier League squad.

Slimani and Ulloa look likely to leave. So that leaves us with four players to be left out - or sold/loaned out.

The list of 31 is:

Fousseni Diabate

Unless we already have transfers/loans for other players lined up, I would expect this:

Ulloa to Mexico
Slimani to Turkey
Elder loaned to a lower division club.
James left out (presumably still injured?)
Benalouane left out
Simpson/King left out

If Söyüncü doesn't get a work permit we'd have to ask the Premier League for permission to replace him in the squad, which I think they'd allow in the circumstances.

King on loan to a Championship Club
 
I think the most likely outcome will be Elder to go out on loan, Kaputska likewise or sold abroad and either James to be given a new role as chief bandage tester or King to go to a Championship side on loan.

If one of them stays then I think they'll be included at the expense of King.

Can Championship clubs still sign players or did their window close at the same time?

If King stays then I'd prefer us to keep him in the squad than James. And I want Simpson in the squad to provide back up.

I think championship clubs can sign players but only on loan or loan with option to buy.
 
I'm surprised we haven't announced squad numbers yet... I guess we're waiting for the window to shut to announce them, but usually announced much before the start of the season aren't they?

No squad numbers for any of the academy players - maybe they'll be added in later. No number for Johnson either, for instance.

Andy King down at 37! Poor Kingy. Otherwise no real movers.

No number for Caglar yet - guess no work permit yet? I thought one of the new defenders would take #2 from Simpson.
