Reminds me of games against FC Khalsa when in the youth games the minibus driver with thick beard played in midfield, cheating bastards.

I didn't say what I thought was acceptable. BM suggested a 14 year old couldn't play adult football here. I could be wrong, but I think the rules here are that you have to be 15. I started playing adult football at 15 too.

Aha. I was thinking we were still talking globally seeing as that is where this dialogue originated. But regardless, I still don't see a problem with age if the team deems the player good enough, here or abroad.

There were stages during Kelly's time I wished we'd played a 2yr old as long as they were more competent than the rest of the ****ers on the pitch.

BM said "I don't think someone that age would be allowed to play a senior game here", to which you replied "Depends on the level?". I just posted that I thought BM was correct. I didn't make any mention of global regulations, as I have no idea what they are.

It's a tricky question, as how do you allow for individual circumstances? I work in youth football, so I know that there are varying regulations within different areas. What would you suggest is an acceptable age? As a player, I was probably ready at 15, but not at 14, so I can only go on that really. Clearly, that isn't applicable to all players, though.

My big concern would be emotional maturity. Most 14 year old wouldn't be ready to handle conceding an own goal professionally, or being booed by the opposition or worse still, losing at Wembley.

Considering that the concern seems to be about the physical strength of a player up against the big boys, perhaps Stephen Hughes shouldn't have been allowed to play at any age.

I seem to remember it really badly affected him.

As for Phil Neal he's probably a bit hard up and looking for someone to pay the mortgage
