Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - I couldn't find it and thought it was worthy of it's own topic. Once again this issue crops up and The Mercury points out that we are looking at expanding the stadium, or maybe even building a new stadium.

As we all know, tickets have been like gold dust this year and next season is likely to be the same. What is everyone's opinion on the matter, would you rather we expand the stadium, leave it be or build a new one?

Personally I would prefer the club to look in to building a new stadium if a suitable option became available, and for a few reasons. #1 We know our stadium was not designed to hold concerts, it would be nice to have a more structurally sound Stadium that was capable of holding large scale concerts in the off-season. #2 Parking - There is not enough parking in and around the stadium, nor enough scope to expand it at the current site. #3 The roads and traffic - gridlock trying to get home after a match. Somwhere less congested might be ideal and maybe within quicker access of motorways and dual carriageways? #5 Not much land to expand anything other than capacity.

If you move it out of town you just end up creating more traffic. People who might normally walk or use the bus might have to drive instead, and it could make it much more difficult for people who normally use public transport.

I very much doubt we'll see the KP moving any time soon. To be honest, despite the demand for tickets, I would be surprised to see us expand the capacity of the stadium in the immediate term. The experiences of clubs like Cardiff with their barely opened top tier, or even that of our friends over at Villa Park who have never really filled their capacity since the development of the Trinity stand, should show that you need to have some solid foundations before making that jump.

If we're able to build next year and become a semi established top 6 club, then the expansion might be on. But at the moment it's still possible that we could be back in the Championship (god forbid) within the next 5 years or so.

One thing that is significantly different to previous ownership structures is the immense wealth of our owners - given their dedication to the club thus far, you would hope the extension wouldn't be a financial burden on the club in the same way the new stadium was.

As I understand it the foundations are physically in place so it's just glorified meccano.

Cost of perhaps £20 million?

£4 million a year extra revenue (10,000 x £400), so 5 years to pay it off?

It's taken us this long to make the KP a home and I don't think it needs knocking down and rebuilding.

The shit thing about a new stadium is it takes ages for the loud supporters to find each other, we seem to have nailed this with the L1 and SK1 sections.

A new tier would make the stadium look impressive, the Stadium of light is very nice indeed.

I think the club should look at ways to make the outside of the stadium look more impressive as soon as possible, it can be a bit boring.

I am aware that this reads pretty terribly

Where are you getting the £400 from?

If that's the cost of a season ticket, you've not taken into account VAT, or the fact that there would be extra operating expenses involved in the extra capacity.

And if we're going to sell out every game for those 5 years, then an extra 10,000 obviously isn't enough.

It's a rough cost.

It's not miles out.

It's not exact either.

As much as I would love to be able to get a ticket, I think we need some sustained success before expanding.

Make the extension 'general admission only' and charge £178 a ticket.

Soon be paid off then.

I'm all in favour of adding capacity ASAP. There is no better time.

The demand is there for 40,000 per game for next season and we'll be turning away potential new and existing supporters all season. This is potty.

If we can add a few more seats than Villa Park, we can become the biggest stadium between Manchester and London. Again, this can only be a good thing and a way of exploiting our potential over the coming seasons. An additional few thousand hardcore supporters can be recruited due to our current situation if we're smart. When the inevitable swing hits and things turn negatively for us, we'll be stronger for them.

On a wider point, Premier League stadiums are too small. They are almost all at or around capacity all the time. I simply don't understand why more clubs don't invest in additional seating. We have West Ham, Spurs and Liverpool in the process of adding capacity but everyone should be at it. It is this process that will eventually lead to better ticket pricing too.

I'm an Irish fan from Dublin and had season tickets not so long ago.If we as a Club want to look beyond the East Midlands in attracting fans then I feel we look at this matter in 2 years time.
I recall 21,000 would be the average when I was over 2009/10 season,But times have changed, and I feel with these owners we are in a better position to maintain our Premiership status.
We have a great structure in place at all levels and when the Likes of Arsenal & Tottenham are taking Technical staff from us then we are doing something right.

Villa and Cardiff were mentioned in a post above, but if you look at owners of both those clubs they are Chalk and Cheese to the people we have in place. We have owners that go beyond the norm in regards to actions they take in expressing the gratitude to the fans since they arrived.

I would like to see an expansion as this would mean many overseas fans would take up following the Foxes as there is nothing like being in the Stadium watching the game live, rather than watching on TV from afar.

The potential with this Club is growing and we need to show the owners Fans will come if they add the extra seating :)

Do you like Cardiff, like?

As a club? I'm pretty meh about them like. As a place...only spent a couple of nights there and we had some wonderful entertainment of a bunch of dodgy women in wetherspoons dancing round a sanitary bin on the dance floor...was like home from home like.

Must have been nice, that - reminding you of your wedding reception and stuff

Nah there was no fighting
That always reminds me of when I had just moved to London.

I was at a bus stop and somehow ended up listening to two old dears who were recalling a wedding they attended the previous weekend.

Went something like:

The bride was pregnant and looked like a meringue. The groom had tattoos everywhere. Everyone got pissed and to finish it off there was a ****ing punch up...

...started by the girls.
