That always reminds me of when I had just moved to London.

I was at a bus stop and somehow ended up listening to two old dears who were recalling a wedding they attended the previous weekend.

Went something like:

The bride was pregnant and looked like a meringue. The groom had tattoos everywhere. Everyone got pissed and to finish it off there was a ****ing punch up...

...started by the girls.

I don't have tattoos, otherwise I'd be wondering if I knew them.

Would love to see safe standing included as part of any expansion. Perhaps this is an opportunity for fans to try to make their voice heard to government and FA?

We should swap with Villa and use their ground for a few seasons. Can't see them needing a 42,785 capacity stadium for a while.

Could they incorporate a new Safe House?

I have been given reason to believe that the delay in announcing any enlargement of the ground is on account of active consideration on the subject of a brand new ground. I'm not sure this is the right way to go.

I heard a similar story. Utilising the land adjacent to the stadium.

You can click to answer the survey, and then skip survey without answering any questions.

Although people's reluctance to view adverts or answer will only cause websites to think of even more intrusive ways of making money. So if you have 10-20 seconds and the questions aren't too personal it might be in all of our long term interests to answer every once in a while.

Do you want them to exist? They've got to find revenue somehow.

Yes I understand that as I'm not stupid, but this website takes it to the extreme with a ridiculous amount of surveys and pop-ups that would drive the Pope insane.

Never accused you of stupidity Cate.

I work in the publishing business, it frustrates me when people complain that the free thing they get doesn't do what they want it to do.

A very painful time in publishing and sites like the Mercury are doing everything they can to stay afloat. I'm quite, quite sure that the people working on that site would rather not include all of these bad experiences if they could avoid it.

I completely understand they need it for revenue, but when you're either in the middle of reading something or at the beginning and you get several pop ups, its incredibly irritating. If it wasnt so overwhelming there wouldnt be a need for software like adblock plus.

One of the reasons ads have become so intrusive is because so many people block ads. Sites have to earn the same money from fewer ad views. And the intrusive ads will lead to fewer people visiting the site, which will lead to reduced revenue and eventually the site will go bust if they don't find a new way to monetise their content.

It's a vicious circle - there's so many in the first place that people block. I've been on sites before where you have an ad placed every 5 lines - the really annoying ones are the videos that autoplay.

All digital ad revenue has gone into google and facebook to a certain extent with the rest being bundled up inventory wise either into expensive audiences (unfortunately not footy fans) or homogenous replicable audiences (footy fans) which can be bought programatically via demand side platforms. This is why when you exhibit any preference online you'll be followed for a while across other sites.up to a certain level by brands.
Ownera of the likes of LM (northcliffe?/newsquest?) Arent plugged in to.either the most premium adverts or the most premium advertisers and so we have to put up with the jank ads.until they get subsumed by facebook regional
