Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

Ben Gibson is where the better potential lies. Middlesboro actually have a fairly decent defensive record this year despite getting relegated and that tells it's own story.
As they say in those places where people don't like to write a lot...

I actually think not having Champions League football will be a blessing in terms of recruitment, our record last season showed that when we looked to step up to the next level, we struggled to attract real top drawer quality and actually ended up paying through the nose for players not cut out for the rigours of English football.

Musa, Mendy, Zeiler, Slimani and Hernandez have offered very little for the investment shelled out and I am looking forward to a summer where we look to invest in players with experience of English football with a hunger to prove something, and the odd rough diamond or experienced pro from abroad who will come in and add a spark.

Last seasons recruitment was such a dramatic step away from the policy that had made us so successful. I would move on all those signings from last summer and look to rebuild with the tried and tested model that has served us so well over recent years.

The tried and trusted model is one where players are tracked 2+ years out from when they are signed, so many of last years recruits may well have already been in the Walsh pipeline. The only exception was Mahrez who Walsh saw accidentally when he went to see a different player!

I also disagree with the 'total failure to sign the right players last summer' position, as if you can just draw up a wishlist, and if you throw enough bags of Monster Munch at it then people will come.

Maybe Keane did not want to come. Maybe he was happy at his club. Maybe his club wanted too big a fee. Maybe his agent wanted too big a fee. City traditionally do not conduct transfer business openly. They may have been unsuccessful with a number of 'stars' that we did not hear about, but would have gone 'wow' if they had come off.

They should have thrown more at Keane. We'll have to pay more for a lesser CB this season. And we'd better be buying a CB - let's not hope that Wagué is the answer to our problems.

How much more? £30million, £50million.

Teams like Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea thrown at least £500million each over the last few years. Do they have teams that are 10 times better than the rest. No they are just a bit better.

Getting the right team spirit and ethos is much more important. Most of the time our players will run through brick walls for each other and their manager. I never see that attitude from the 'divas' at the big clubs.

I would rather we built slowly by recruiting the right players who are hungry and team players. Can you imagine the Man City or Chelsea players running a baby sitting circle around at each others house like our guys do.

I would rather stick with our dedicated band of brothers who are journeyman and 'rejects' who can play amazingly well together.

Yes Morgan and Huth probably only have one more season in them, but that does not mean you just throw Amartey in as the replacement now simply because he is here. Vardy and Mahrez were both crap for the first 12 months in the team.

1. No they wouldn't. Did you sleep through the majority of this season.

2. Who GAF about baby circles? I'd prefer they trained hard, opened their minds to alternative action when they are getting stuffed and did their jobs. Baby Circles and Simpson is the best RB on the planet all in a week.

No one has said that apart from you just now.

I know. There does seem to be a lack of humour gene within some posters or maybe my humour is just far too funny for you to see.

.....let's not hope that Wagué is the answer to our problems.
Why? That's exactly what we should be hoping for isn't it? An answer to the problem? I agree we should be buying another CB but why write off one you've seen play in a City shirt for all of about 60 minutes or so?

Maybe you're just not funny. Ever considered that as a possibility?

Why? Because common sense says that you shouldn't be putting all your eggs in the basket of a 26 year old whose highlights are a loan period at Udinese and a 3 year career at Caen and whose been out injured since he arrived in England. If he turns out to be a prem CB then that's a bonus.

You have been complaining about succesful players like Slimani and wonderkinds like Kramaric so I'm surprised this is your stance. didn't you also poo poo trying to pick up Sakho in January?

For me we go out and buy 2 good CBs and hope that Wagué can challenge them.

btw just because you've never seen Wagué play doesn't mean that others haven't.

I've certainly considered that I'm not funny to you. Humour isn't universal, maybe my humour has a very select audience of 1.

That you think your posts are humorous is perhaps the most humorous thing you've written in some time.

If it made you smile my day is complete. You've turned into a grumpy poster the last few weeks.

Waguè was a loan so I doubt he will be around next season
