LEICESTER BID FOR MAGUIRE?

Leicester City have offered £16.5million for Hull City defender Harry Maguire, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old had a fine season with relegated Hull last term, and the Tigers are reportedly happy to accept the offer.

Tottenham and Newcastle are also thought to be interested.

I disagree FIF, a goalkeeper doesn't peak until he's about 35 so Schmeichel is a better buy at the moment in my opinion and would commend a similar or better fee.

If you rate Pickford though, Cambers, as a lot of teams seem to do, then on that basis you'll get a lot more years for your money.

I get that PPF. I just think the Kasper is proven and at the moment Pickford is a bit Mahrez.
 
And why is Maguire the first CB in line? Or is that the level we're at.

Still better than Wes for next season I suppose.

Keepers starting well is no guarantee they'll continue to excel in their later years.
Plenty of examples of promising young keepers that have fallen apart.
Less examples of established professionals doing so

Not sure what level we are at. We've had an opportunity to push on which appears to have been wasted. I'd like to think top half is the ambition but our recent non-appointment doesn't seem too promising. We've also got a stadium too small for demand and despite the cash in football don't have any rumoured plans beyond that. I'd be content with 40 points.

Maguire seems a good buy if possible though.
 
Decent player decent price young enough to improve playing alongside Wes or Huth, unlike them he tends to bring the ball out of defence without resulting to hoooffff.
 
Maguire was in Steve Walsh's little black book for years. I think I'm right in saying that we almost signed him from Sheff Utd five years ago for about £500k.

He went to Hull when they inherited Walsh's little black book. Looks like we're now doing the same thing as Hull did - sign up players that Walsh wanted long after he's left the club.

Astonishing amount of money for him if true that the fee is in excess of £15m. He's a good player but not that good in my opinion.

Money seems fair to me in today's crazy market.

Quite. Players who were "not worth £10m" are now "not worth £20m". It's not right to compare the prices quoted against previous years, as we're now in a different market.
 
Are any of them worth the money? Apart from the Free transfers.
