Not sure if 'loving it' is the right term, but the new adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale is amazing. As Margaret Attwood has said, everything that happens to the women in it is being done by a government somewhere in the world now

I've only watched the trailers and read about it - as my wife adores period dramas - but it seemed to be another in the latest trend of Soft Porn series to tittilate the masses maybe not to the extent of GOT or Gladiator for example but maybe aimed at an older female audience.

I can assure you that it is not that kind of thing at all. I don't think there's been any nudity at all, and the very limited sex scenes are by design mechanical and perfunctory. A horror rather than a tittilation.

Finishing Fargo tonight. Not as good as the first 2 seasons but has a certain uniqueness to it as always. Lupin has been great.

Watched the first 2 episodes of the Loch, seems to be run of the mill, quite Broadchurch like in the way it seems to think every sentence is stunning and making it look like everyone is a murderer. I'll keep going as I like to watch detective/crime series but so far nothing to write home about. They could also make the scenery shots so much better like Vera or Shetland etc...

Last night I watched this ... https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-...-story-is-at-the-heart-of-this-affecting-film

It's a particularly good dramatisation of the murder of Sophie Lancaster back in 2007, her and her boyfriend were attacked for being different (goths) and she was kicked to death trying to protect him and get his attackers to call an ambulance. It highlights the bigotry that is rife in the world today and I think schools could do a lot worse than to show this as a whole school assembly.

It's available as a download on iPlayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0559fd8/murdered-for-being-different

Please take the time to watch it.

I just have on your recommendation. Desperately sad to see so many lives ruined because some people just cannot cope with people being different. It can only be a genetic weakness in us that feckwits cannot overcome. Many species reject the 'runt' of the litter, the one that is different or perceived to be weaker.

Also, not a good idea to watch it whilst your daughter is off playing with her mates in the park (as I just did)!

I remember at the time seeing the mugshots of the scumbags responsible after they were convicted. What struck me was that they looked exactly like you'd have expected them to if you'd been asked to guess. Dead eyed, slack jawed inbreds. Identikits from outside any given off-license on any given Friday. When did youth become so generic? Certainly when I was a kid searching for something to align with was the norm. Now mindless conformity seems to be the standard. Great breeding ground for the nouveux Hitler Youth it would seem.

Watched a series from last year, this weekend called The mssing season 2. 8 episodes , excellent.

Brilliant and gripping. Season 1 was also good but Season 2 topped it.

Binge watched "American Gods" a couple of weeks ago. Ian McShane was excellent in it.

Thought I'd give that a try.

Watched most of the first episode but again it seems to be an american soft porn series. I guess that sounds prudish but I just find that it ruins plot. We know what sex is, do we really need to see fake graphic sex (other than for the adolescent boys club for whom I'm sure it's great)?

Watched the first episode of fearless last night - simply because the lead actress is from Peaky Blinders which I really enjoyed - it was okay but maybe the writers are trying to make it a little too convoluted, I'll watch the second and see how it goes.

You need to watch more than the first episode to get the context of that scene with Biliquis.
