Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

Sam Clucas could be returning "home" according to reports

or going to Swansea ...

Talk of West Brom demanding £20m for Jonny Evans. This is going to be the story of this summer over inflated asking fees for City interests. I think we need to decide on the 2 or 3 important players we need - another CB, RB and striker/no.10 and just pay the asking price. Evans is decent, probably not worth £20m and we can get a better CB for that price - smalling for instance - but Leicester should decide who they want and then quickly offer the money and buy them.

Then we can get the team into training and mess around with offers for players that we want but don't need and at the same time agree fees for outgoing players. If we show we've paid decent prices for the Maguires and Smallings of the world teams will understand that we want £50m plus and not messing for Mahrez etc...

I don't want us to spend weeks and months dicking around over £2m - £5m extra fee and then not getting a player we need and want or getting them 1 month into the season. the extra money is worth that to get them in for pre-season training.

Evans is solid enough but not in the same class as someone like Wesley Hoedt whch would be money better spent

How many nachos can £25m get you?

Iheanacho and Sigurdsson please. Don't care about anyone else. Just spend the money on these two.

We need to improve the defence far more.

Have to agree with FIF, the defence has to be the priority. Either one of TK's choices would be a good signing, but not at the expense of a good central defender.

Yep, I concur. Another CB is vital but we're okay in defence other than that for me. An understudy for Simpson perhaps, to keep the pressure on but that's behind a creative midfielder who can pass a ball forward and open up play and someone to put the ball in the net. Vardy can't do it all on his own.

I'd still like to see Gibson from Boro come in if we can get him as he's a talented youngster. Stoke have offered 12m which in today's crazy market would seem 'good value'. Smalling could also be an excellent addition although is prone to the odd horrendous error; we've already got a Wes Morgan for that.

I couldn't agree with this post any more.

In contrast, I think a lot of people are writing off Morgan and to a lesser extent Huth, prematurely.

There really isn't any reason why they both can't rediscover their 15/16 form next season.

I agree that we want another defender, but I'd go for a young RB/CB, not an established player that will have to be picked.

Iheanacho replaces Ulloa in rotation I suppose and pushes Shinji and Slimani down the pecking order? The last thing he will want to do is be a super sub like his current role.

Doesn't seem a priority to me, unless we are changing shape. We are short on wingers otherwise, assuming Mahrez leaves. Suppose Lawrence and Barnes may be the plan there. Lawrence has certainly earned the right.

Back four? Assuming we are bombing out Benaloune and Amartey has no future there...another CB is needed, though a punt on a youngster wouldn't be a bad bet (like Houlding at Arsenal).

I don't disagree. I haven't written either off and think they could both still do a very good job but not consistently for the amount of matches we have to play in relatively short spaces of time along the road of the season. A young Ben Gibson would be an added bonus that would shore up the defence when needed and perhaps illicit the desired response from Morgan and, to a lesser extent, Huth.

Getting a RB is just as critical IMO hopefully one that can pass the ball more than 5 m accurately, Simpson has performed brilliantly but that is his weak link. A play maker would be the next acquisition, I think Shakey is going for raw pace upfront.
