I don't have a problem with either substitution. Bringing on Amartey to sure up the midfield made sense, and Okazaki had run his race by that point. Then with Arsenal leaving massive gaps at the back bringing on a pacy forward to offer Vardy support and hopefully capitalize, also made sense to me. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but there was logic in both decisions. I'm not showing blind faith in Shakespeare. I think he deserved the job after last season but I understand others reservations about him. I just think it's harsh to blame him for this loss.

I thought Mahrez had a good second half and I couldn't fault his work rate or commitment. I hope he stays and I think we are a much worse team/squad without him. As has been said; Vardy, Albrighton and Okazaki were all excellent. James and Ndidi were both poor. I'm not worried about James because he'll be out of the team as soon as Drinkwater and/or Iborra are fit. But I expect more from Ndidi. Maguire looked excellent on the ball and is a fantastic footballer. But he was part of am overall shambolic back-four. Morgan is finished at this level. That's not a slight on him, it's just a fact. We need another centre-half. Huth will be excellent cover but we need someone else alongside Maguire.

It's not his first game in charge, it's his 17th.

As I've said before, you can see our tactical know-how that Ranieri developed being systematically destroyed by someone that simply doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

We have some very good players that can get us some results and we can gloss over poor management to a certain extent if they deliver. However, managers are very, very important and their lack of ability will show through eventually.

The only thing in his favour is the fact that the players like him. But that won't count for a lot when their efforts prove fruitless over and over again. He is a dud.
BN we could have won 5-4 and you still would have whinged! We played well tonight and should dispatch 90% of sides with that standard.

I didn't say it was Shakespeare's first game in charge I said it was the first game of the season and I really don't think Shakespeare is a poor manager considering how well he did when he took over from rainiari

Trying to keep some perspective despite being devastated by that result. Simple truth is, if Huth had been playing instead of Morgan, we'd have won that. Subs were naive, but I think he'll learn from that. Thought we looked dangerous throughout and, in the main, we looked nearly back to our best. Still have real hope for this season and think Shakey will do OK. Just compare this performance to the first 2 thirds of last season.

Why do you actually follow football Brown Nose?

Serious question as you obviously don't seem to enjoy it.

I fecking love football. I love moaning and complaining almost as much as cheering and celebrating. It's all part of it.

If you want to dissect football, it's an utter waste of everybody's time, money and effort. It's a silly and simple game. But we choose to attach meaning and loyalty and opinions to it. Nothing wrong with expressing them. That's the point for me.

Sad if you don't get that.

The problem is Morgan is the captain and if he's fit he gets played so if huth was fit it would of been him and morgan

Remember lads, we lost to a late goal at the London Library two seasons ago and that wasn't the end of the world...

Back then we had a great manager and fried chicken on the menu. Now we've just got fried chicken.

Bottom of the league. Defended like blind incompetents. Awful in midfield. Mindless substitutions. Shakespeare out.

Some excellent play from our forward players. They'll soon get sick of it all as the goals against column ticks over rapidly.

Here is exhibit 'a' for this season in the 'Shakespeare cannot manage us' prosecution. Surely, no team will get a better chance against Arsenal than that. They were there for the taking, begging to get beaten and somehow we find a way to lose.
Didn't take you long, did it.

. Ndidi is very much more stand-offish than Kante was.

.

It is unfair to compare Ndidi with Kante. The only team that has a midfielder as good as Kante is Chelsea.

The worst possible way to lose and start the season.

/QUOTE]

No. A gutless performance against a team as bad as Hull last year was the worst possible start.

The decision to bring on Iheanacho for James was bizarre.

All in all, I'm gutted at the moment but am reasonably optimistic about our chances of avoiding the sort of trouble we found ourselves in last season.[/QUOTE]

We don't know the reasoning behind James being taken off. I don't think the substitution caused the defeat.

Morgan and Huth are a cause for concern.. In the champions season they were protected by Kante. Last season they often looked vulnerable. They are at an age when the reflexes get just a bit slower and legs a it heavier with every season. It may be worth bringing in another centre back in his mid-20s to partner Maguire.

A keeper is only as good as his central defence. A central defence is only as good as the midfield screening them.

This is the issue. It's not about Morgan or Huth being over the hill. They're just not being protected/supported any more.

N'Didi or Amartey or even King can do this. However, they're never asked to. They play too far ahead of their defence. It goes back to us playing the two in midfield. We can't get away with it against good attacking sides but we continue to pretend that we can.

But scoring three goals against an attacking side
