Mahrez

I thought it interesting that the Sky pundits thought that he was back to his 15/16 self and was the perfect example of how a player wanting a move should be.

I love Mahrez but the punditry last night about his performance was simply bizarre.

No, it wasn't. It was fair and balanced unlike the opinions of many City fans nowadays towards him.

He tracked back really well and spent most of the game helping out Simpson. In addition, he set up a goal, he almost scored with an excellent volley from the edge of the area and he played the ball of the match to put Vardy in.

Vardy aside, he was our most effective player. Albrighton pushed him close mind.

We no longer play to his strengths. We just expect him to play like Albrighton on the other side. In our title winning year, Simpson and Drinkwater covered the space to enable Mahrez to spend much more time ahead of the ball. Now he's in his own penalty area as much as the opposition one.

If he's still here next Saturday, the thought of our fans berating him the first time he loses possession (which he did just as much in 2015/16 as he has since) makes me genuinely sad. In some ways, I hope he's not here/playing to be treated like that.

On the matter of Mahrez I am of exactly the same opinion as you. My issue with the punditry was their suggestion that yesterday represented some kind of great renaissance for him. As you say he did some good things and he also struggled at times to make an impact. I don't think it warranted their hyperbole, but I suppose that is Sky all over.

You see, this is a fair, balanced and factual and yet it seems lost in the myriad of unfair nonsense being attributed to Mahrez last night. He was one of our most creative players along with Vardy and Albrighton. He's under the microscope though so every error is magnified 10 fold and used to suggest he isn't making an effort or he doesn't care enough.

I saw what you saw and most of the pundits whose opinions are worth listening to also saw the same. It seems that he can't really do anything right for some people but he can certainly do a lot wrong - even if it's fabricated.

If we support Riyad (vocally) we may get even more out of him. Let the slating begin.

Can see a transfer request from Gray coming in the near future

Why?

Does Gray have the arrogance to think he is a better player than Mahrez or Albrighton, so should start ahead of them?

I think we know the answer to this.

Personally I will be disappointed if he doesn't start the Brighton game.

Apparently we've been told we've got a 15 August deadline to accept Roma's 35m euro offer. Piss off Rome. Your about 8m euro short at least... I wouldn't sell to them just out of principle for them making everything public.
