That'll do. Good performance again, this time with the result we deserved. Never troubled by Brighton and created enough to win the game. Much better from Mahrez today. Maguire MOM.

Brighton dead certs for relegation. No Goal threat whatsoever.
Still, good ruthless performance. Our set pieces are so much better than years past.

Mahrez showed what he can do if you stand off of him. He'll skin you 6 kinds of sideways.
Shame Shakespeare didn't use the subs but, again, I guess he just wanted to see the game out. Personally, I would have given DG a (longer) run.

Mahrez was excellent and I thought Okazaki was a nuisance again which was helping open up their defence.
Lako got it right in the match thread though; we looked a little toothless and simplistic in the middle of the pitch. We are crying out for a fit again DD and some new blood. If we play James and Ndidi in a 4-4-2 next weekend we will be in trouble.
Positive result and approach today though, which is very promising.

3 important points.
We looked slow and laboured for the most part, luckily they were absolutely garbage for the entire game.
If they don't go down I will be utterly amazed.
Mahrez much better and our only real spark, if he'd have struggled against this lot I would have been seriously concerned.
Morgan is finished, a lumbering mess at this level, I'm genuinely scared of the game next week.
If we don't buy reinforcements in CB and cm then I suggest we will struggle to achieve anything more than last season.

They were absolutely feckin' dreadful. Truly stunk the whole place out from start to finish, and a nailed on cert for relegation.

Well I think what he said ^. Quite enjoyed myself. Great atmos, loud crowd at kick-off and no fear from start to finish. Never really got out of second gear but didn't really need to. Maquire was really quite fabulous. Morgan, for all the flack he seems to be getting, blocked a nailed-on goal. Nearly all Allbrighton's dead balls were perfect (bar one corner). Mazhaz played his socks off but maybe overplayed a couple of times with the ball at his feet. Kasper had one real save the whole game. Shinji and Vardy looked to be having fun. Personally a great home start for me, confident going forward.

The problem is that when the opposition are asmpoor as that, it's impossible to judge our performance so I don't really get some of the strong negativity here.
It can be likened to reading literature; a simple text written badly is more difficult to read to completion than a complex text written beautifully. Brighton were 'The Da Vinci Code' in this analogy.

Brighton were the worst Premier League side I've seen for years. They've got to spend big over the next couple of weeks or they'll be down by Easter. Hughton is an excellent manager in the Championship but useless in the Premier. They have no brains and no talent.
For us, Maguire and Mahrez were excellent. The only people on the pitch worth the admission fee. The rest just went through the motions.
Our obvious weak links are Morgan and James. If either play at Old Trafford, we're in serious trouble. James plays like a 55 year old would. Jogging about with no real sense of what's going on and what he's supposed to be doing. He looks one tackle away from an ambulance. He cannot be a starter for us.
Morgan looks desperately leggy. I was hoping he'd come good again this season but he's struggling at the moment. Having said that, he was practically playing in a wheelchair for the last 20 minutes and it made no difference.
Even though Brighton were diabolical, they still put crosses in at will which should be worrying as we were allowing Arsenal to do the same.

Any result at all at Old Trafford has to be seen as a bonus. They are on it at the minute.
Let's hope it's a bit better than last year. We were absolutely woeful up there.
As for James, I think he's done ok really in the two games. Particularly given his amount of time out. He's not first choice, fourth in fact, but he's doing all right in a few starts he wasn't really expected to make.
Two weird fixtures. One agisbt a bogey club and one against absolute chancers. Hard to judge anybody yet, but I've been pretty happy with it so far.
