Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

Iborra, NDidi, James, King &Amartey will be enough until January should we not get clearance for Silva

Not good enough

It's all we have. If there's nothing that can be done about Silva then so be it. It's upto those who we can choose from to stand up and be counted. I for one would love to see Ndidi, Iborra, James and Amartey given the responsibility and chance to step upto the mark.
Nothing to say that Silva would have adapted to the Premier league from the off anyway.

A very painful lesson which I doubt very much the club will learn from. The club didn't play 'hard ball' with Chelsea. They handed over DD without having adequate time to be sure they could bring in a replacement. I guess that many supporters expected that FIFA's rules would prevent the deal going through this autumn.

Of course, we don't know how well Silva would have fitted in. I doubt whether it will happen in January - but who knows and it sounds like a costly venture... with lawyers the main beneficiaries.

Flamini might be a good shout if he's available. If nothing else he'd be a great influence in terms of playing calmly and holding the ball for more than about 3 seconds

I disagree with that assessment. I think the club did the best did they could over Drinkwater. £35M was good business, in pretty much anyone's book I'd say. The CM situation is another issue, one that the club tried to resolve at the same time, but the DD deal itself was sound business.

The club haven't gambled and lost with Silva, they just ran out of time (cocked up if you prefer). He'll be available to us come Jan. In the meantime we manage the situation.

Let's face it, if the deal had gone through then most would have been singing the club's praises. We don't know what went wrong, much less who's fault of was, so I think to be critical of the club is premature.

I'd agree with all of your other information, except possibly this, was my immediate thought.
However the general consensus coming from the club is that Sporting were dicking us about on price and that might be the reason for the delay. In which case as a club we should be pissed off.

We should have had a legally binding agreement in writing from them well in advance, not wait for the inevitable deadline day offer for Drinkwater.

This is from the BBC correspondent Steve Crossman

The only way Fifa could still allow this to happen while standing by their deadline is to ratify Adrien Silva's registration and say that because the documents were on their way (in the post, in the cloud, whatever) that it meets their criteria.

Fifa's statement sounds pretty resolute though, they have listened to the Football Association's case on Leicester's behalf and simply palmed them off by referring them to the regulations.

How long does it take the Court of Arbitration in Sport to deal with something?
