Adrien Silva

Does that read as though it was the FA that sent the late papers?
That's how it reads to me.

So where does that leave Silva. Presumably he's not our player, but neither is he (presumably) Lisbon's player.

He probably hates us before he's even kicked a ball. Half a season out before a World Cup. Add in the time it will take to get properly match fit and get used to
playing in a new league and there's a real chance he'll miss out on what might be his last opportunity to represent his country in a World Cup. Shambles.

So will the compulsory lack of match fitness/recovering from a minor injury come into play now or will it wait until January?

Shambles. £25m nternational playmaker sat doing nothing whilst we literally can't pass the ball to one another.
Someone needs to fall on their sword for that one....

Prob not the best solution.

Did we pay using the MasterCard? Perhaps we can make a claim, get our money back and tell him to do one?

Outcome we could have expected.

I don't expect there will be any accountability but I imagine the club are working on some sort of statement.

Complete waste of time/money launching an appeal that isnt "cast iron" So not just Rudkins team but the legal team also need to be shown the door!!!!

If my reading of the report is correct it is the FA, and not LCFC, who put forward the petition/appeal to FIFA.

Saving grace, DD is still injured and will be until October, so even if the deal hadn't been done, we would still be in this situation as we wouldn't have got in a replacement.

Surely if he's not our player, then he is still Sporting's players?

Makes that whole big farewell they did for him a bit awkward.

****ing shambles though. Absolute mess of a situation. We did the right thing holding out for the higher fee from Chelsea for Drinkwater - but it may have cost us.

"...the petition made by The Football Association for permission to request the International Transfer Certificate for the player Adrien Silva and subsequently register the player for its affiliated club, Leicester City FC, is rejected."

To me, that means he's still Sporting's player as they've not been granted a transfer certificate meaning the transfer doesn't count. So presumably means he now goes back to Sporting and we have to go back to them to sort a deal for January if we want to sign him.

Wouldn't expect a club statement any time soon, as I suspect they'll go back to re-negotiate with Sporting and wait until then to release a statement.

Absolute mess.
