Given that he has been sacked following this game, it would surely be in people's heads that it may happen. Yeah I know. However, even if they hadn't got anybody lined up, it still seems odd to me to pass an opportunity to do it when there was a bigger window to work with just two weeks ago.

In all of this we just don't know what we don't know.... (I think that makes sense).
What we do know is that it will get sorted soon and within 2 weeks we'll be finding something new to moan about :)
 
I think the timing of Shakespears dismissal highlights the owners own amateur status as owners. They are without doubt accomplished businessmen but not where football is concerned. Ranieri's sacking and Shakespeares appointment were ill thought out decisions. Ranieri sacked to soon, Shakespeare appointed in the belief that a good Coach will make a good Manager, whilst at the same time squashing an apparent player revolt; these decisions have effected the club profoundly. I doubt that the owners have ever faced a scenario were the employees have dictated to management about its own structure especially when the employees are earning millions of pounds a year. Not an easy situation, so I do have some sympathy, but now they really need to bite the bullet and appoint a no nosense Manager, getting the right guy could cost a few quid, but continue in the current direction will cost them a lot more.

Yep, I get that too and agree with you. I'm very much a "que sera, sera" person, was merely making the point that it seemed a bit odd.

Do you know that for a fact? Or are you just assuming that because you haven’t seen any more names mentioned in tweets from a fake twitter account?
 
I don't think guessing the precise background to the sacking takes us very far. The real issue is whether the owners can find the skilled, tough character who knows enough and is empowered to run the football side including the final say on recruitment matters - an area which has been completely bungled.

It's asking a lot but they have the cash and providing they can convince the likely very few competent and available candidates that they are serious about changing the way the club is run there must be a chance.

One more bad mistake and no change in structure and we are surely relegated and as we know that can take years to redress.
 
I think a lot of managers won’t talk to a club until there is a vacancy. Especially not the more principled ones, who we want, and especially not when they’re already employed as that would be disrespectful not only towards the manager of the club you’re being approached by, but also towards your own present employers.

Also some people would undoubtedly criticise the club were they to approach other managers with shakey still in charge, so they can’t really win either way.

For me the best approach is to sack the manager, then start a formal process, draw up a shortlist, interview each candidate at least twice, take your time over it. There’s no rush.

I'd like a completely mad bastard to come in and tell certain players to get ****ed. Perhaps not the manager himself of course. Could get someone in as manager and appoint Roy Keane as Head of telling some of the old guard to **** off.
