Christ, it’s embarrassing that after not scoring for what, 9 games, Palace have the opportunity to get OUT of the bottom 3 tonight. 7 games they’ve had since they scored a goal.

Anyone else near the bottom should be ashamed of that. They’ve had a 9 game head start and they’re still going to be beneath palace.

And they've done it. Anyone might think that Mr Roy is a Very Good Manager

The fact they've fought back and scored 2 goals in the 89th and 92nd minutes bodes well as well. They'll probably be safe, but Benteke is probably going to be off.
Burnley is a fantastic story. Hope they hang on to it. It's always great to see the big boys upset whether it's us or anyone else.

Definitely shows the toll of the extra games though. Marginal gains are a big thing, ironically.

My brother who is ironically a Baggies fan said to me a few week ago that Palace will stay up. His take on it is that at club level, players want to play for Hodgson and he thinks there is enough there for them to get out of it. He was happy when Pulis got the boot but very pissed off when Pardew got the job at WBA.

As Man C beat Spurs 4-1 for their 16th consecutive win it does amuse me to think that some felt it was our tactics to blame for a 2-0 defeat against them.

I watched the game, Pawson took a leaf out of the Clattenberg book, Spurs reverted to type and should have finished with 9 men, Kane and Alli both got away with shocking "tackles."

and being booked for them, means no further action, don't know how the ref can claim he saw the Kane tackle as he has his back to it!

Ridiculous defending and goalkeeping by Liverpool. 2-0 up and cruising. 5 mins later 2-3 down

SWANSEA have appointed former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhalas as manager until the end of the season.
:046:
Wednesday taking over 18 years to get back to Premier League and not likely yet and he manages it straight away overnight.
He was only sacked on Christmas Eve :040:

Palace fully deserved the draw today
Zaha up to his tricks for the penalty (quite ironic that it was against Stetling)
Justice done with a shite penalty

A good article which highlights what is becoming increasingly obvious; the standard in the Premier League is worsening year by year.

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-divide-mid-table-clubs-gone?CMP=share_btn_tw

I'd argue that the standard is worsening across the entire league though, not just those outside the top six. I'd also argue that the standard of managers is the worst I've ever seen. Some absolute brain dead idiots are doing okay and many are coasting along without an original idea in their heads. Most embarrassingly, others are still using what was an original idea a decade or more ago and it still works.

One example being the awful attempts to counteract Man City who have dared to play a bit differently - not radically so, just a bit - and it's screwed these idiots minds. A young coach at Bristol City did better than any of the Premier League goons have this week.

Premier League sides outside the big six can afford to recruit from practically anywhere on the planet. Yet they consistently recruit badly. Those that do come in so often deteriorate rapidly when exposed to 'the best league in the world'. For example, Gabbiadini at Southampton was excellent this time last year. What's happened to him? There are multiple such examples at every club including our own.

The next great revolution in football isn't going to be fitness related, it is going to be about innovative tactical ideas. When clubs learn that simply recruiting the same old faces to managerial roles gets the same old results. There is a real issue with clubs using ex-footballers as managers almost exclusively. They are largely a very thick and narrow minded bunch. The scope for improvement in managers is enormous.
