Absolutely brilliant.

Nice one Stoke

Lambert: "we've got what it takes to stay up"

Must be nice calming words for stoke fans coming from a man who has only ever been relegated from the league as a manager.

(Fact check that - Norwich might have stayed up for a season with him)

Some of the forwards Chelsea have supposedly been linked with:-
Carroll
Crouch
Giroud
Dzeko
Wow, just wow!

He’s actually never been relegated.

They were pretty good when they first came up, harnessing the power of Grant Holt.

We’re neither underachieving nor overachieving relative to financial resources

Really? Presumably always fired from teams that then got relegated?
He just feels like a relegation-y sort of manager. Weird.
Not even that. Though he left them in the relegation zone, Villa survived the year he got the sack. He was only Norwich boss for one year in the Premier League.

Silva is fortunate that he has the interest from Everton as an excuse for his form dipping. Similarly to his last job he had an impact (this time against some duffer teams) to start with and then all went to shit. His stock will probably remain high and he'll be in with a chance of the next job that comes up. I would expect his first 5 or 6 games at Newcastle or Southampton to go brilliantly and then revert to type.

Wanted to drag this to this thread, as the Leicester Watford thing will close but this is a big discussion point.

What I cannot understand is why Marco Silva - relegated with Hull, and only good for a half season with Watford - get excuses made for them and another top job almost immediately (for the record, I think Soton is likely for him) and English managers ie Mark Hughes has a decent few seasons with stoke, without setting the world alight, but then he’s suddenly not even mentioned.

We lament the presence of English football managers (or lack thereof) whilst also condemning them to the scrap heap if, inevitably, the club they take over has a bad patch.
We make excuses like “doesn’t know the premier league” for foreign failures, who then get another position...

I’m sure I will be told otherwise - but to me it certainly feels like that, although I’m aware is hypocrisy to say that after my derision of Paul Lambert... ah well
