This may be the greatest single post-match thread we've ever had on TB. A Bernard Manning style summation of the pundits, the erasing from history of our club's greatest ever achievement resulting in a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, a bullet proof citizens' advice statement about how to enjoy football when dementia sets in and a return to the ever controversial Monster Munch debate. It was worth getting battered just so that this thread could exist. Excellent stuff.

Puel and the squad thrown all over the place by the Mahrez nonsense. Imo a number of players want out but they are unsure whether its best achieved by playing well or badly. When Puel set out to develop (not change because we had lost any clue about game planning) I thought he would do well to achieve change without being relegated this season. 35 points says we will be ok and at the end of the season winning the PL will just be a far off memory.

It was always going to be a high scoring game against us. Man City are now on a completely different level to most teams in the league. We were basically battered to the point of losing our heads.

Manchester City are very good but they are not as good as people suggest. The rest of the league is a pile of stinking crap, as shown by a Manchester United side that lost to Newcastle yesterday.
If you look at some of the so called good teams, Chelsea are a complete mess and look like they are going to change their manager once again. Liverpool are world beaters one week and then a joke the next. Spurs are excellent but bottle it when the going gets tough. Arsenal are a joke.
It won't be said this year but the reason Man City are running away with the league is more to do with the stinking pile of crap below them. Much like when we won the league.

True. The PL has been bollocks for a fair few seasons now as the dismal record in Europe makes clear. It reminds me of Alan Sugar. Feted by many as a business genius but when you look at the facts it's all smoke & mirrors. Also Sugar's early success came from selling low grade crap to the mostly unaware. The PL is the Amstrad of world football.

You were lucky! - I had the ultimate in lo-fi at Uni - a second hand Dansette record player that my Aunt donated to me. It was only one step up from a wax cylinder gramophone.

You were lucky. I had a needle which I tried to scatch around an LP at 33rpm and putting my ear close to it to be able to hear anything. Eventually the needle broke.

The early 70s wooden boxes were the only thing they ever made that were sort of OK. Everything after that was designed & built using the money those generated & they plunged downhill rapidly.
The rule of thumb with Amstrad is if it's black or silver it's shite.
& they got progressively worse.
The early to mid 80s for me were a time of unemployment &/or shit jobs. Money was tight & I had a huge interest in music. So like many others I scoured 2nd hand shops for kit. Luckily there were plenty of them & whereas if you can actually find them now they'll be full of furniture,old tellys & such,back then they were mostly packed wall to wall with hi-fi. I taught myself who made the best of each component & who were to be avoided. As did many others. I built some reasonable systems on a budget.
One thing you noticed was that despite the plethora of different brands you hardly ever saw an Amstrad. If you did see one it was likely to be one like yours (an older model) There were 2 reasons for this:
1) The majority of them packed up before they ever got to be 2nd hand.
2) Most people who shopped 2nd hand tended to be fairly knowledegable about the kit (the casual buyer bought a mini system from Dixons) so the shops wouldn't stock them as they knew they'd be on the shelf for years.
Sugar then went on to prove himself to be a twat many times over. But then he's Spurs so it shouldn't be a shock.
