The Jamie Vardy appreciation thread

I really cannot think of another footballer that has given me as many special moments supporting Leicester City as Jamie Vardy.

He is a class striker who has an edge to him. How perfect is that? We really do need to appreciate him while we still have him firing like he does. He's an undisputed club legend.

He scored a sensational goal against Spurs earlier this season and then bettered it against WBA. A genuine contender for Premier League goal of the season. That was his 82nd goal for us.

Have a look through this twitter thread as he winds up any and every opposition . . .

And let us not forget this season:

Some may slate me on here but I genuinely believe he is the best number 9 I have ever seen play for us.

I agree.
Frankie Wortho may have had an even better first touch but did not have Vardy's running. Perhaps his extracurricular activities left him needing a good nights sleep.
Lineker may have been even better in front of goal but like Frankie did not contribute as much to the team as Vardy.

It is worth pointing out that in his first season with us Vardy was poor which is an argument for giving new players time. .

An underrated, brilliant footballer.

Let's keep it that way. I don't think he'd be here if people looked beyond the myth of his limited ability. People make claims that he'd do shit in a different system despite his range of goals scored. He scored that backheel against Germany and people claimed he'd struggle without a ball over the top tactic. Let them all remain stupid and we can keep our best player.

Three years ago it looked like he was just fast, which gave him an advantage going past defenders, but he quite clearly now has amazing technical ability.

That Manure goal, 11 in 11, never looked at the goal. The goal against Liverpool, lucky lob? No, amazing shot.

Yesterday against WBA, unbelievable skill, on his wrong foot.

Big mention for amazing assists, mostly from Mahrez, and others.

Still not convinced about all the penalties. Some he definitely runs across the defender so he has to get clattered!

To think, if some had had their way, he could have been playing against us yesterday if we had taken their offer of £5million. (Or whatever the measly amount was!)

Just saying, like..... (fickle ****ers)

International goals against Germany, Spain, and Netherlands plus a couple of others, the boy done good!

I also agree. There was, of course, Sir Gary who was very special, but left as his star rose. Jamie came late in the day and I pray will end his career with us.
I love his attitude, he always gives everything even when it's not going for him. I love the back story and all that Skittles Vodka type stuff that makes him so human and somehow accessible. But most of all I love the fact he's ours and there's barely a fan in the land who wouldn't kill for him in their side.
He's given me some unbelievable moments during THAT season, his 11 goal run, the Liverpool goal etc and like Cambridge Fox, has also overtaken Muzzy for me as my all-time favourite. He'll never fully get the credit he deserves because he doesn't play for a "big" club, but WHAT a talent he is, fully demonstrated with that finish yesterday.
My son asked me who from our squad at the time would make it in the Prem when we came up, and my first response was Vardy, he really didn't disappoint. Love him.

Great thread to start BN.

I have said before, the moment he leaves will be the saddest I’ve been to see a player leave since Gary left us when I was 8 years old.

As others have said he has been responsible for so many great moments. And his back story and the dodgy year in the Championship and the winter of 2014-15 simply make it all the more special.

He truly is a club legend and I would love him to be with us until his legs go. Couldn’t bear to see him scoring for another PL team.

I hope he scores 20 PL goals again this year as to do so twice would cement his place in the pantheon of PL strikers.

Although I’m still irritated he missed out on the Golden Boot with his silly argument with the Everton goalkeeper that day!

All fans wish he played for their team.
The fact that it seemed that he was going to Arsenal and then didn't makes me like him even more.

He IS part of Leicester history.

In the first season up I commented after the home game against Arsenal when he came on as a sub that he was much more skillfull than a lot of people gave him credit for. After the Man Utd game there was a lot of sour grapes from their supporters that he wasn't good enough to play for Utd and would be playing in Div 2 within a couple of years.

He has got better as each season progresses. Yesterdays goal was ironically very reminisent of this one scored by Tony Brown for WBA in the early 70's, which a couple of managers have said was the best they've seen.

I don't find Vardy a particularly nice person (I've never met him so this is based on what I've seen on television) but he is a fantatic player who I'm very glad he plays for Leicester.

Fans of other clubs think he’s a horrible little ****

I don't think for one minute that we should doubt their word. He is undoubtedly a horrible little **** - but he's our horrible little ****!

Still not convinced about all the penalties. Some he definitely runs across the defender so he has to get clattered!

Nothing wrong with moving across to get it on your favoured foot, is there? Or would you rather he just hit the deck without being touched as does Tottering's horrible little ****?

But I thought he had to change his game to suit our new 'transitional' style or some such complete and utter cobblers ?

He's an absolute once in a lifetime gem of a striker, and we should base every single thing we do around giving him the type of service and support he needs.

Him and Mahrez. Two simply incredible, wonderful footballing geniuses (or genii for the pendants)

"pendants" *snigger*

;)

Edit: to be clear, I'm no spelling Nazi. I can't afford to be. I personally don't give a monkey's, so long as I understand what's being said then job done as far as I'm concerned. By way of contrast, there's some very well spelt gibberish about.
