I’ve not got a big nose, big nose!

Are you a member of the Judaean People’s Front or the People’s Front of Jude’s?

Two of my colleagues are Spurs fans. As nice guys as you could hope to meet.

That'll be it then. Not all of them are.

You may remember that with five games left in our championship season, my spurs-fan colleague spent a week telling me that they were on for 15 points whilst we would get just a single point in the rest of the season.

What championship winning season?

What's the strike rate supposed to be an indicator of (other than the obvious but hardly instrinsically valuable goals/shots ratio)?

It's an indicator of attacking players that take the most opportunities to shoot. It is also an indicator of their accuracy when they have a shot. Linked to both, it is also an indicator of the decision making of a forward that decides to shoot when another option could be more beneficial.

The stats from PPF show that Kane has had way more shots than anyone else. This isn't surprising because his team is built to give him the ball and he has a single minded determination to shoot from anywhere. Occasionally this works well, but five times out of every six, it is wasted.

I don't think that makes you the best striker. It's very much like Ronaldo in the Madrid team. His team is designed for him and he is intensely greedy. As a result, his scoring stats are phenomenal. But he misses loads and he deprives his team mates of loads of opportunities too.

For me, the best strikers are those that are most clinical. Give them a chance and they take it. Attacking players that shoot relentlessly without a high return in goals are not special.

From that list, I think there are plenty of players that are more impressive than Kane. I also think that Spurs reliance on Kane is one of the reasons that they don't win things. They don't have enough variation. Stop Kane and you usually stop Spurs. It's pretty poor from their manager if you ask me.

I get what you're saying ppf but I don't think they're totally unrelated points. Kane scores a lot of goals because he shoots a lot. It's part of his style of playing. To argue about his missed shots - given the number of immensely important goals he has scored for Spurs - seems to me like focusing on the number of times Vardy runs offside. It's simply a side effect intrinsic to their way of playing.

You may see it that way, but others may look at the stats in isolation and, in particular where you have an agenda, they can be used to make a particular point.

Being a stats geek, I prefer looking at the raw data, rather than interpreting them too much. I'll leave that to others :023:

Pogba's boots from tonight's game are up for grabs

2 winners at Cheltenham followed by manure getting dumped out of the CL. Life is good today.

Every opinion I read basically boiled down to this being a formality & who would they get in the quarters.

Lolz

It was definitely a superb achievement. But bundling in Europa League stats with Champions League stats is just ridiculous. Most of their knockout wins were in the Europa League due to finishing third in their Champions League groups.
