Puel out

Sounds like Wagner is off to me. Wouldn’t really answer a question on building for next season now that Huddersfield are safe and went with “whatever happens, happens”.

I hope he’s on his way here.
Sounds like Lennon is off as well.
Read into that what you want ;)

Puel has said many times he wants them to pass forward quickly not pass around the back, this was backed up by Vardy last night in a post game interview, last night was like how they played up until January which Puel was a fan of.

It was an open game, managers often talk about how they as manager don't enjoy open games but fans do, even with 10 men Arsenal created lots of chances so he probably wasn't happy with that aspect but I'd bet he was delighted with how we attacked as that's what he wants, it was quick direct passing instead of twatting it 60 yards

Haven't got a clue. Looks like he let them play their way. Not likely to win many games playing his.

But i thought they were all totally shite slimeshit snake bastards, all of whom we have to ship out of the club at the first possible opportunity or we will all die of nobrot, or summat

Wouldn't surprise me if Puel said to them "Okay what I'm trying isn't working, let's try it your way"

That's not what Vardy said. He said that the boss had told them they weren't getting the ball forward quickly enough. So they tried it and it worked.

May just be my impression but did Puel just walk off and not acknowledge the fans after the game with head lowered straight down the tunnel

Perhaps he thought he should check on Gray.

Do you think that they've deliberately been doing the opposite of what Puel has been telling them to for the last few months? When we've put in a terrible performance but Puel has said that he was happy with it, is he not telling the truth?

We've quite clearly changed from a quick paced team to a slow one. We've gone from a team that almost always have less possession than the opposition to one that almost always has more possession. Our percentage of forward passes has reduced markedly. Our full backs have transformed from defenders to wide midfielders. Our central striker has stopped making channel runs. And so on, and so on. It's a method that reminds me of a very poor imitation of 90s Italian football - tedious, unimaginative and negative.

Last night, every single one of these indicators - plus a few others - completely changed.

For whatever reason, the team did not play anything like they have been doing for several months. As a unit they changed, not one or two individuals. The manager either admitted his tactical plan was a failure or opted to 'rest it' for the game.

There was also the added factor of just how awful Arsenal were in midfield and defence. The space and time given to our front six players was laughable at times. It would have been genuinely difficult not to have created some chances against them, i.e. seeing open space in front of you but checking back instead.

Last night was a vindication of how much of a waste we've made of the last few months trying to follow the clown and his nonsensical ways. Given quite how bad Arsenal are, not only should we have finished 7th, we really should have finished 6th this season.

Everything is possible. Sensible people just try not to let themselves worked up about it.

You would think that at most clubs there would have been a couple of people high in the hierarchy who would have advised Puel that effectively kicking in the season by adopting an ugly alien and for these players ineffective style wasn't in the club's or Puel's best interests.

Typical media analysis of our situation on the Totally Football James Richardson podcast yesterday (after the arsenal match)

1. What did we expect. We were never going to finish above 8th. (What? Never finish above Burnley? Or above a terrible arsenal team? Do these people not realise that in 2016 we showed that anything is possible, for any team?)

2. Puel is just unfashionable as a manager because of his personality and demeanour and has organised us well (so organised we lost 5-0 to palace and have lost to most of the bottom half)

I haven’t listened yet but I’m going to guess Julien Laurent said most of that? I like these podcasts, I listen to several different football ones but you can tell they never, ever watch us play.

Yes mostly it was, although one of the others was also backing him up.
