Sturaro is filthy and very cynical, exactly the kind of player we don’t have.
 
It's one thing being linked with quality internationals like this but another to actually get them in. We've managed it with Pereira though. I'm not so convinced about Sturaro but Mario Gotze was shit hot before injury and illness a few years back and both players are only in their mid 20s.
 
Gotze has been dogshit since his injury problems.

Nothing I've read about him suggests he's worth £18m
 
I am all for diversity, but are there actually no really good British players available any more?

It is no wonder we have a poor national team if English players, Vardy excepted, never make it out of the lower leagues.

The PL clubs have an obscene amount of TV money, much of which does not stay in this country through international agents and overseas owners.

The Premier League could commit itself to developing lower league and grass roots football by a Football Aid levy on the PL clubs.

The United Nations and the UK are committed to 0.7% of income to developing nations.

If the PL did the same, 0.7% of TV money, costing each PL club between £1-3million, a total of £35million, it could transform the lower leagues and provide pitches and coaches to really develop home grown players.

No disagreement with your main point about investment, Mike, but are you really trying to equate a global initiative to assist people living in the most desperate levels of poverty around the world, to putting some money into a game of football ?


It's the FA's job to develop grassroots football, not the Premier League, and it's something that they have singularly failed to do effectively for donkey's years

Maybe, maybe not. Juventus don't want to sell him so will only sell him for the right price so offering £7m below their valuation is not going to work, meanwhile someone comes in with the £18m asking price and we've missed out.
